Eusebius listens attentively to Talbin's summary of the conversation, then turns to Rowan and says, "I have four gems which should suffice - you are welcome to as many of them as you need."

An agreement is quickly reached, the party paying the elves 40 gold for an escort across their territory. They set a hurried pace, and well before nightfall you reach the far side. It is marked with a warning similar to that on the far boundary.

Following the directions given by your guide, you climb the trail and find the peak covered in mist. Moving cautiously closer, you see what appears to be a marble staircase leading down into a misty cave.

Rowan is fascinated by the stealthy elf bowmen. They negotiated from a position of strength. They honored their agreement. They made a small, but real profit from the encounter. Rowan makes a mental note to return some day and learn more from these elves. He wishes he had a gift he could give them. On an impulse, he decides.

He pulls his silvered battle axe off his warhorse and walks up to the four elves. Taking the blade in his hands, he offers it to the elves, making sure they realize the silvered quality. Rowan figures he'd never want to use it on his brother anyway.

"Tell them it is a gift, and is very useful for fighting werewolves. Tell them thank you for the escort." says Rowan to Talbin.

When they reach the staircase, Rowan dismounts. "We should camp here. We'll enter this tomorrow. Sorry Vanth, its time for these manacles again."

There doesn't seem to be much to chain Vanth to up here... and somehow, you have a very good feeling about walking down that staircase.

Rowan looks at his brother appraisingly, but doesn't protest. He looks up. Can he estimate how much time they have until they moon rises?

Rowan will try to find a place to secure their horses. He'll take off their gear and make sure they have food and water. He doesn't like to be rushed. He feels this is an important task.
