Round 4, Second Half

No sooner has Rose managed to extricate himself from the horrific worms than Aldred calls down a roaring pillar of fire to engulf the enemy sorcerer. Hundreds of smoking, sizzling, charred worms detach and fall away from the main body, and a foul stench fills the air.

OOC: I was just thinking maybe you slipped and thought he was level 15 for some reason, since your spell penetration stats factor in at 17 with a +2 bonus, implying level 15 as well . . . :D Thanks for the fast response!

I'm going to figure out which way Rose ran (not towards the golem, surely) and then post a pic.

Gabriel's inspiring song comes to an end as Rose is covered in bugs and Snargle flees into the caverns.

Disappointing... he thinks, and then turns his attention to the now-visible worm. Being engulfed in whatnots or slashed by an iron golem held little appeal, but perhaps if the worm had other things on his mind, this fight would be more interesting.

"Hold!" Gabriel thunders, gesturing with a clenched fist at the singed worm.

OOC: Gabriel's casting hold monster at the worm, DC 23.

Snargle 79/95 hp 57-5=52 nonlethal

The idea of flesh burrowing voracious insects being embedded and trapped within his ripped open regnerating flesh is a horror to the troll's mind. Exposure to the cruelties that can be inflicted upon immortal regenerating creatures has made him overly sensitive to the possible outcome here. As the troll flees his flesh continues its regeneration.

With a hiss, unheard on the material plane, Kaelvorr chides itself for the horror it feels seeing the vicious supernatural assault upon Rose. The Kaorti swallows its fear and surges toward the Worm.

OOC: Attempt possession on the Worm. If successful, K. will as a free action use its Ally or Enemy special ability to give the worm a -4 Profane penalty to his Con.

End of Round 4

As Gabriel invokes words of power, the flowing worms comprising the body of the aberration seem to slow and halt. The Worm that Walks attempts to resist, but the enchantment proves too powerful.

“Im . . . poss . . . ” it sputters before paralysis sets in.

OOC: Feel free to adjust actions for round 5.

Gabriel smiles broadly when his magic seizes control of the worm's body... bodies... whichever. A little subtle enchantment magic had triumphed over flashy explosions or gleaming steel, and the bard was basking a bit in the glow of his success.

"I believe his death should be swifter now, if you care to act with some haste," he says with a flourishing bow in the direction of the now-stationary worm.

Realizing with some surprise that the Worm had fallen to a mental compulsion, Silhouette fights her way free of the swarm and edges around it to get a clear view of the opposing mage. She contorts her hands into the form of a glyph, and hisses the Abyssal word for 'idiot.'

(Move out of swarm and get line of vision on wormy. Cast Feeblemind! DC is 25, but arcanists are at -4 to save.)

Round 5

Kaelvorr attempts to possess the worm, but the same magical barrier as before blocks him.

Silhouette steps free of the swarm and casts Feeblemind, feeling a strange surge of arcane power as she does so. There is no visible change, but she is certain she penetrated the creature's spell resistance.

Snargle flees up the hallway, while Rose moves to a far corner, the better to get away from the horrible worm. Left with only one opponent, the golem begins attacking the gargoyle. Thin gashes appear as the gargoyle twists in midair, managing to avoid a solid hit. ([14 damage])

Initiative order:
kaelvorr
silhouette
kelteror
snargle
worm
golem
aldred
gabriel
gargoyle
rose
