The reprint of D1-D2, collecting them into one volume as Descent into the Depths, is pretty good. There's a pitched battle that it looks like the characters are losing, and it's an extremely alien environment, with the statue of Blibdoolpoolp in the background shown in silhouette, but hinting that it's an object of serious power and not just a strange (even disturbing) statue:

That is such a difficult choice. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with "A Paladin in Hell" for the nostalgia.
