prestige class and multi-class exp penilty

Just wondering if when I give a character a prestige class do I take multi-class exp penaltys.

What he said. PrCs (because you fulfill prerequisites) are often thought of as extensions of a class. Not always a good fit, but its at least a rationalization of the actual rule.

The DMG says you do, but that was corrected in errata.

It was? I thought it was ONLY in the Complete books, but not errata?

The leatherbound DMG have the corrected text.

But no word on when they'll release new "Special Edition" printing of the standard-bound DMG, unfortunately. :\

Which errata? The DMG errata have not been updated since 2004, and it does not mention the missing text.

The leatherbound DMG that was released in November 2005 have the missing text.

You are not suggesting that the SRD is the official D&D errata, are you?

Well, you've probably seen in it in the WotC's FAQ, but many questioned whether the FAQ is as authoritative as the errata they provided, despite WotC's negligence of updating previously published errata.

WotC is about as confusing as their editing skills.
