Lucien hears the creature just before it bursts out of the ground. He draws his weapons and moves to flank the creature with Rinya.

Richard's paranoia pays off as Sally's skittishness draws his attention to the bulging ground just in time to dismount swiftly. Turning his horse away from the beast, the young fighter draws his sword and brings his shield into ready position... [sblock=OOC]and I'd like to make some tea as well please...
seriously if I'm trying to do too much for my surprise round Richard will dismount and turn Sally towards some trees first, he'd been wary so his shield was in place but will have to draw his sword. Looking forward to the map =-)[/sblock]

Richard dismounts his horse, drawing his sword as he does so. The horse scampers away from the battle. (ooc: I'm willing to say the shield was allready in place.)

The Bulette bursts forth from the ground, biting Lucien for 19 damage.
