OOC: It has been my experience in these types of adventures (artifact retrieval or somesuch) that the big money comes not from the pay but from the loot. Also, two healers is almost always better than one. If B4cchus is okay with us having 6 party members, that is. It's up to you guys, though.

(OOC: If the players of the high-level characters don't feel cheated, I'm cool either way, and hey, we sort of even have three healers counting Quarion. Aletheia would rather not have the other cleric along because she tends to think of clerics of Hyrag as preachy and annoying, but that probably won't be the case with Rathan anyway, so I'm good to go with what the group decides)

ooc: six indeed. My bad. I'm leaning towards the party of five but i'll leave the decision up to you guys. A party of six could work but all above arguments apply concerning loot division and baby sitting. I guess it's up to you guys wheter you want to drag along 3 first levellers. The increase in healing power isn't that great, as a first level cleric will be needing some healing for himself as well, especially when he's working at about 2 ecl under par.

Dunbar replies to Mordik "We are pretty much shure the item is to be found in the location we believe it to be. To support this opinion Lord Graven is prepared to pay half your fee upfront. Should the item not be at this location, and you can prove this, you'll keep the first half and we concider the deal ended."

(OOC: Yeah, you're probably right, B4cchus--if anything, I think the wand will be doing most of the healing. Rathan, if it comes down to taking the first five, I respect you for bowing out--the next GM to recruit here for a low-level game should make sure to take Rathan!)

OOC: hey... I know how feels to get my toes stepped on... too many clerics spoil the healing potion.... and I completely understand not wanting more characters in a party than your expecting.... I AM the new guy here and I'll have plenty more oppertunity to get work... this is supposed to be fun... not making it hard on the dm's cause I'm stubborn and want to go heh.... besides I have a friend here who will have a new chara comming to the inn to look for work soon anyways... I'll stay here in the Inn and look for something else and rp with him... y'all are ordered to have some fun ya'hear! hehe :p

ooc: About the baby sitting issue, I really don't expect any for my character, at least no more than it's the normal for a wizard-type character anyway. I choose to put my 1st level character in an adventure for 3rd levels, which means that the risks are great for him. If he dies, well, I'm not that attached to him, and he could also have leveled very quickly. And I'm not so selfish that I expect the other players to spoil their fun for a decision no one forced me to take.

About the pay, we could also make the high levels have a greater part of it, though the point is IMO right now moot. We can use the front pay to buy the wand and some healing potins, should Ristyl's character (the one that can use the wand) fall unconscious, then discuss at the end or after the adventure how to deal with treasure.

OOC: Let' see it the other way, Mordik and Eanos have been babysitted in there first adventure. They were both 1st level in a praty made of an average 4th level. They just return the favor. And both had there chance to shine during that adventure.

[sblock=OOC]Velmont's right. I had Eanos jump into an adventure he was too low a level for on his first go, and that actually worked out pretty well. Frankly, I'm a little more concerned that Eanos seems to be this party's primary combat specialist. :\

Remember, too, if we get the wand, that we'll effectively have two spontaneous healers, since both Aletheia and Quarion will be able to use it, yes?[/sblock]

"It's generous of you to offer half up front. It shows faith in your information and in us," the monk says. He looks to the others, then back to Dunbar.

"I would ask, as well: Do you know what sort of risks might lie in our path? It strikes me that your master wouldn't need to hire adventurers if this artefact needed merely be dug up from the ground."

"Well said. In fact, I presume he knows what this artifact is, and in turn you should tell us. Maybe I can recall something about it, being from the pages of history, the science of mystical phenomena, or the religious lore, if it happens to have something to do with the gods. Whatever dangers keep watch over the relic may have something to do with it's nature or it's past, recent or ancient."

"If not, you should not wait for our questions and disclose all the information you have that could relate with our task. Our chances of retrieving the object will increase along our preparedness."
