If you liked the Dungeons and Dragons movie...

...then you're bound to love Courtney Solomon's new flick, Captivity. It combines his unique directorial vision with the uplifting social vision of torture horror for a tasty movie treat.

The movie is rated R, according to an infamous billboard, for, among other things, "grizzly images." I imagine that Stephen Colbert will be especially terrified.

(I don't especially find the movie any more distasteful than any of the other torture porns that have been coming out lately; none of it is my bag. But the hilarious incompetence of everyone involved in the project fills me with much schadenfreudian mirth.)

Heh--from what I've heard, that's one movie that could only have been improved by torturing the protagonists to death.

I'm waiting for www.themoviespoiler.com to cover it, so I can see how bad it is without having to watch it. Reviews are ranging between "too sick" and "too pretentious" - though a couple of reviewers seem to like it.

Ugh.

So, an incompetent director, Solomon, is ripping off a competent director, Roth. And he is making torture porn, itself a cheep trick of a movie.
