FR Human Illusionist build advice

Hiyas all,

I have a player who is interested in starting a human illusionist in an existing FR campaign. She'll be starting at level 1 - the rest of the party isn't that far ahead. We're currently in Waterdeep and will be journeying toward Silverymoon and Citadel Adbar pretty soon.

The (stable) remainder of the party is a human druid, half orc rogue/barbarian and a human crusader.

Any advice on a decent build / things to avoid / good hints (or links) for a inexperienced illusionist are welcome.

Any FR material is fine. Most splatbooks are good - though we try to go with FR prestige classes over some of the complete stuff.

Talk to your DM so that you both are on the same page with respect to what illusions can and cannot do. It will save you a lot of grief later on.

Work towards Shadow Adept (in the Players Guide to FR, and originally in the FR Campaign book). Soon as you take one level, you effectively get 3 Feats, and the whole Shadow Weave thing works well for Illusionists.
