"Hello. I'm sorry, I don't understand you. Do you speak common?"

If needed, Babette will try similar messages in Elvish and Halfling.

*If no one understands her in Aquan, the iridescent-scaled lady tries again in two other languages of the Inner Planes--Auran and Terran.*

[SBLOCK=Auran or Terran]
"You look lost. Headed to the City of Glass? Do you need any help?"

Corvinus tries Orcish and Dwarven, though without much hope. Finally he tries pantomime, making large gestures of pointing to the far city, swimming slowly, drowning, and helplessness.

[sblock=Rystil Arden]Ximix will attempt in Draconic: "Do you speak the tongue of Magic and Dragons?" If that fails he'll content himself with trying to 'aid another' on Corvinus' pantomine.[/sblock]
Ximix attempts communication in a strange tongue as well.
Failing that he will try to aid Corvinus.

By the rulers of the underworld, a mermaid??! Jallembo thinks unsure of what he's seeing.

He doesn't understand a word of what is being said and just tries elven or dwarven as options to the mermaid.

He gets closer to her and bows. Then with his finger he draws in the sand the shapes of houses to make it look like a town.. He points at the group, then at the sketch and smiles at her..

(OOC: Note that as this is the Plane of Water, there actually is no sand below, just endless water with minor pockets of other elements. That was a good idea though)

*The strange scaled woman doesn't seem to understand any of the languages, but she does at least recognise Draconic.*

*She sighs softly and chants a gentle phrase in Aquan, and then she motions for the party to speak to her again.*

"Hello. My name is Babette Delacroix, my friends and I are running and errand for the Temple of Galatea. We need to get to the city before our water-breathing magic runs out. Do you think you could help us?"

*The strange woman cocks her head and nods slightly along with Babette's speech to indicate understanding. She thinks to herself and then sighs softly, then she motions towards her aquatic carriage--there is hardly space inside for this scaled lady and the party's women and Ximix, who are the smallest and slimmest. Realising that, she motions for Jallembo and Corvinus to grab the side of the carriage and hold on tight. And then the carriage takes off at high speed--not quite as high as before it was so burdened with passengers, but hurtling through the endless sea with great celerity. Happily, the group reaches the City of Glass, a wondrous planar mecca set up almost like a ship in a bottle--except it's a city. As the carriage reaches the side of the glass sheen that surrounds the city, it moves towards a circular disk-shaped 'gateway', and moving up to it, the circle of glass ripples and becomes like a liquid, allowing the carriage to ride through. Corvinus and Jallembo on the outside, in particular, feel a strange wet gooey swirling sensation. And then they are inside the strange city, filled at once with both water and air, and breathable by both aquatic and land creatures alike. What bizarre wonders will they uncover in this city's bazaar?*

"Right, that's one obstacle behind us, at least," remarks Corvinus cheerfully. "Our thanks to you, miss...? Your assistance was as timely as it was effective. Now, to business. You wouldn't happen to know of a seller of herbs for use in clerical rituals, would you?"

Jallembo understands the creature in time before she lets her carriage slide away at speed. He holds on tight, fearful on the consequences of being left on his own.
The view of the underwater city is marvellous. The young thief wonders how the glass surface would not break under the pressure of the sea but at the same time others mentioned the words 'planes' and he's not so sure anymore whether he's still in 'normal' water.

He stares around trying to capture how much of the scene and remains on his guard eventhough he feels relatively safe here.
