Peasant Giant

Though the name is considered by some to be derogatory, the peasant giant is perhaps quite like the salt of the earth men and women who make their living off of the land in the villages and towns. They are a simple, hard-working folk who tend to keep to themselves though it is not too rare to see one or two working among lesser mortals for a time. Peasant giants can also be somewhat haughty, though. They value free-spiritedness and independance, but more so for themselves and others of their stature than for the smaller races. Still, on the whole they tend to be no better or worse than many other folks, and rarely do they come into direct conflict with others unless provoked.

Peasant giants appear to be more human in their dimensions and complexion than any other kind of giant. Standing around nine feet tall, they tend to be a little leaner on average relative to a human. They show the same range of pigmentation as do humans, though sandy hair and green eyes and a ruddy complexion tend to be the most common.

Galauch is a mean-tempered giant who lives a few miles outside of town. He is strong and surprisingly agile for his size, but his health suffers from a wide girth and a love of drinking. He does not like visitors much, but every so often he condescends to tell the town children a tale or two, though they are usually frightening stories that send them crying to their mothers while he gets a good laugh out of it.
Galauch might have been driven off by the townsfolk a long time ago were it not for the fact that he is perhaps one of the best leatherworkers in all the land. He works with skill and speed to craft fine wares made from the hides of the cattle he raises himself. He then sells his wares and buys his booze and whatever else he requires.
Galauch has lived here for a very long time, since the days when the grandparents of the oldest folks in town were young. He has never really paid too much attention to things that did not concern him, but he might know a few secrets that others forgot long ago.
