The Eye [US 2008]

Planning to see The Eye this evening. The trailer had me won over few months back.

Anyone hereabouts have any info, warnings or an opinion on this movie?

I expect it to be 'ok'.
Mainly because I am a fan of Asian Horror and so far I have seen only one Hollywood remake of an Asian horror film that was as good as (in this case better than) the original. That was Pulse.

Ringu > The Ring
Ju-on > The Grudge
Etc.

Have not yet seen the new One Missed Call But I expect the same result. They are decent enough movies, but Americans try to do with flashy special effects what Asians manage to do with good story. The two styles don't mesh well.

I'll probably see this next week when I have time. I expect to enjoy it, but not to be blown away.

YMMV.

It gets a "meh" from me. Not enough horror, far less than the trailer offers.

There was an entertaining bit or two, notably the chinese restaurant, but I definitely will not recommend the movie.

The original wasn't really horror exactly, more suspense - and a lot of it had to do with the main character's transition from being blind to being able to see.
