[ooc] - Dogville - a bloody 3.5 game [5/5]

I made a few changes to his description to fit the Varisian mold, as I had really pictured him that way at first and had since forgotten.

How much of the Pathfinder rules are you planning to use? Should I be using their skill selection system instead? Are the feats going to be PHB or Pathfinder?

Use whichever you prefer. I'm using, so far at least, the PHB stuff, 'cos that's what I know. Later I may incorporate some of the Pathfinder stuff, if I get the time to read the material more closely.

There's such a big difference that once again I think we should have the discussion as a group. I would get a +2 bonus to an ability of my choice, and it combines a few skills, so I would be adding some extras. The dodge and mobility feat are significantly changed as well. I put both versions of Ather on my previous posts so you can see the differences.

So, what do the rest of you think? Should we be playtesting Paizo's new 3.5.2, or stick to WOTC's 3.5?

Paizo has currently only 5 classes. I would prefer staying "classic".
That's not how I read it. It says those are the classes they've adjusted to keep them even with the newer classes. It's supposedly designed to be fully usable with existing 3.5 material.
These two quotes from the document suggest that other classes are acceptable.
The following modifications are designed to balance the
player character classes. These powers and abilities replace
those found in the 3.5 rule set.
Table 5–1: First Level Skill Choices
Class Skill Choices
Barbarian 4 + Int modifier
Bard 6 + Int modifier
Cleric 2 + Int modifier
Druid 4 + Int modifier
Fighter 2 + Int modifier
Monk 4 + Int modifier
Paladin 2 + Int modifier
Ranger 6 + Int modifier
Rogue 8 + Int modifier
Sorcerer 2 + Int modifier
Wizard 2 + Int modifier

They can only "update"/power up the SRD classes. Other classes than cleric, fighter, rogue and wizard will be avaiable in a couple of weeks. You got only their skill lists so far.

You can update other classes with their examples, but that won't be easy.

They have the skill chart, detailing which are class or cross-class for all of the core classes. The others I think we can extrapolate from that. I would say the Crusader's class skills would be:
Acrobatics (Balance and Jump or on their 3.5 list)
Craft
Diplomacy
Intimidate
Knowledge (History)
Knowledge (Religion)
Martial Lore
Ride

Concentration is lost, but it could probably be added back in with no problems. It really didn't take that long to figure out. Other issues might be a bit trickier, but I still think the changes are to make fighter, rogue, cleric and wizard a bit closer in power to the Bo9S classes and others such as warlocks.

Yes, skills shouldn't be the biggest problem.
BTW: I don't think, that the Bo9S classes or the warlock are more powerful than cleric/druid or wizard/sorcerer.

Other topic: I will not play a crusader (4e will be close enough and his recharge mechanic isn't good for PbP) but something more in the world background: shoanti shaman.

Built as:

Spirit Shaman (Complete Divine)

or druid (extrapolating from pathfinder material)

or cleric (faking a shaman using animal and air domain; patfinder rules)

Deuce Traveler

Adventurer
