Norim will enter the room and duck behind the nearest pillar hoping it will provide him with a bit of cover in case the beast charges.

Holy Crap! An Ogre! (Round 1)

Xenon starts to turn back toward the stairs, saying, "Dangerous brute ahead. I think he has seen me!"

But then, with surprising speed, the monster lurches from the behind the column and rushes Xenon. As it comes, its cloak billows, revealing a hide-armor clad creature nearly nine feet tall, with long arms corded by ropy muscles. Its features are brutish, primitive even, and soon Xenon cannot help but smell the ogre's fetid breath as its platter-sized hands reach for him. Xenon tries to twist away, but to no avail. The ogre is far too powerful, and Xenon is pulled into his crushing embrace. Pain flares up and down Xenon's tortured back!

Norim rushes into the room, sword raised high. He brings the blade to bear against the ogre, slashing it mightily across the flank. The giant bellows in rage as its thick blood flows. Nemos moves next, sheathing his blade and readying his bow as does so. He takes up position in the room, nocking an arrow, making ready to let fly.

Dacen reacts slowly. Moving into the room and then hesitating uncertainly. He then moves towards the doors, attemtping to block escape routes or possible reinforcements. As he does, he fires a crossbow bolt, which embeds itself in the ogre's meaty shoulder. Gordon is close on Dacen's heels for part of the rush into the room. The gnome's arcane words and gestures send a missle of force cutting into the ogre's flesh.

During this violence, the undead beggar slinks into the room and huddles in the corner.

OOC: Given the sudden turn for the worse due to the monster's surprising high initiative, I took liberties with Norim. We'll pause here to give Xenon a chance for new actions in response to being grappled.

Dacen drops the crossbow and his hand falls on his mace, then he pauses, trying to decide if he should cast enlarge person on Xenon, or Norim.

(OOC: He'll cast it on Xenon unless he gets free, or passes out.

cool discription and glad you took liberties. I was actually firing the crossbow one-handed so I guess that roll should have been a 11, oops. Not sure what to do about that :-S )

Xenon tries to wriggle free of the ogre's grasp. He shifts and twists, but the ogre changes its grip to match Xenon's every move. The next thing Xenon knows is that he nearly upside-down while the ogre has him gripped by the belt with one hand. The giant straight-arms Xenon into the eastern wall of the chamber. The impact jars bones, but causes no damage. Then, when the ogre releases its grip, Xenon falls from a height of nearly seven feet.

With a growl, the ogre clenches its hammer-like fists, ready to continue the fight.

N.B. Don't forget the ogre has 10 feet of reach it can now use since it's no longer grappling.

Xenon took no damage, but the ogre has put him a position where he may end prone. Include a DC 15 Reflex save with Xenon's next actions. If he fails, he hits the floor and is prone. Xenon is in the square northeast of Norim's current location.

Dacen calls for Norim to delay his attack, "Stay your hand a moment Norim!", then begins murmuring a prayer release the dwoemer of Enlarge Person. Norim's size rapidly increases untill he can look the ogre in the eye and match him pound for pound. His gear grows with him, he now holds a blade nearly the height of a man.

(OOC: +1 to attack and damage [from increased strength] large longsword damage 2d6, AC -2 [-1 for size, -1 for dex penalty. Duration 2min [20rounds] )

Dacen then draws his mace, holding the Torch aloft in his other hand.

After realizing what has happened to the near-prone xeph soulknife after the fall with the nine feet ogre, he wields his longspear and aims at the ogre, and then takes a 5-ft step back.

"Stay away from our friend beast! Do what Norim says!", the now angered gnome says,"Have a taste of my fury!"

It probably tickles the ogre instead of injuring it.

Are you sure the ogre can't hit you Thondor when you casted the Enlarge Person spell on Norim?
