Into The Depths

Angel Tarragon

Dawn Dragon
You've had a long ardous journey to find the Cave of Laviarnaa. On the south cave wall you see your objective, a wooden frame, the passageway to underworld you've heard so many tales about. You take stock of yourself and prepare yourself for what may lie on the other side.

As you cross the threshold you hear a low rumbling sound. At first it startles you just a little. After a moment you realize that it must be the Hadarona River, which cuts into the mountain and empties out into the darkness within it. You realize that it can't be too far away if you can already hear it.

The entrance to the underworld is lit by four everburning torches on the noth wall, set permanently in place. The rest of the room is pretty much nondescript and like the cave entrance before it is carved completely out of stone. The start of a stairwell rests in the midlle of the room leading down.

I need a Knowlede (Religion) check from Gerak.

"Finally 'ere, lads. Let's see what this cave's got fer us." the dwarf, Gerak Steelriven, says while rubbing his gauntleted hands together, thinking of the gems and precious metals they may find. Praise the stones.

(ooc: Knowledge - Religion at +5 was an 8. Ooi. Shoulda just taken 10!)

Gerak did need to succeed at a DC10, but I'm going to overlook to your result this time, as this is partly important to the plot.

[sblock=Arkhandus]Gerak's mind is sent reeling back in time, accessing memories he didn't knew he had.

It is ages ago, and you see many dwarves digging into the side of a mountain. Your mind seems to reel upwards and you get a good look at the mountain from a birds eye. It is the Hadarona Mountain Range. You instanly are aware that the dwarves are diggining into the site that would be the cave you just passed through. This entrance to the underworld and the very underworld itself, which goes on for miles, was carved entirely out of the mountains and the bowels of the earth.

Your mind then reels down into the earth and descends upon an underground city. The City of Dwarven Lords, Jajearna, is the city in question. You are then instantly aware that this is the city that was founded 2,200 years after the dawrves stopped from carving into the earth, forming the passageways of the underworld. These dwarves, which have since evolved into the Duergar, have lain to rest, their souls guarding over the city and defends it.

Your mind now comes racing up to the present and once again you are whole.[/sblock]

Chubbs squats in the corner of the cave entrance, picking his teeth with a bit of dried reed. "Mmm smell like 'ome. Funny marks jus' d'ere d'ough." The red rogue gets up and quietly walks over to the marks.

OOC - Chubbs also has minimal training in Know - religion, should he roll to see if he remembers stuff too?

Arv moves forward and looks to Chubbs.

"M'm not so big on these dank holes meself, at least you lads know your way about in the dark. So what'ya think our chances of this place bein' trapped are Chubbs?"

He examines the door and moves cautiously forward to the stairwell his eyes darting back and forward searching for the tell tale signs of traps. As he does so he keeps a hand cupped around the everburning torch strapped to his belt stopping the light from traveling down the stair.

His other hand clutches the stock of a loaded fine grey crossbow his fingers caressing the trigger nervously.

[Sblock=OOC]Arv will be searching for traps pretty much constantly let me know when/if I need to roll.[/Sblock]

As Arv is running his hands over the stony skin of the room, he feels a an unusual bump in the wall. Upon closer examination he notices a fine line that covers a section of the wall. The line seems to be the trace of an archway, but the are within it is without a doubt in his mind, pure worked stone.

"Did you find anything, little one!" Asks the deep voice of Flint, the goliath fighter. As ever he wears his enormous spiked fullplate and his oversized glaive, a buckler strapped on his left wrist. His other equipment looks surprisingly small.
