I was reading through Sleeper in the Tomb of Dreams, and noticed the sleep-skill challenge they presented:
"The base DC for the checks below is 19. High DCs are 23, and low DCs are 15."
"Level: 8."
That's exactly the DCs on the table as written for 7th-9th, without the +5 for skill checks. It seems as if that idea (dropping the +5 when doing skill challenges) is 'official', at least as far as Dragon goes.
