Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

[sblock=Decisions, decisions]Miranna's sheet url is simply missing the end bracket, you just have to edit it in the address bar (until it's fixed). A sword might be a handy flexible character to have but equally a cleric's healing... I don't know, I just don't know.[/sblock]

[sblock=Ooops!]Wrong end of the stick, there. It looks like Miranna's already coming with us. Out of everyone else I think I'd vote for Shalya the cleric. Not that everyone else isn't a gorgeous character that I'd love to go adventuring with in the fututre[/sblock]

A young man, who has been peering in from the window, moves towards the door. As he turns you hear a sharp whistle. The sound is accompanied by a flutter of movement at the window sill and a bird launches towards the rooftops.

Did I hear that, right? You're hiring?

The words are punctuated by the slam of the door behind him. The newcomer looks around the crowded room, surprised that it was almost empty when he stopped outside not so long ago. For those sitting in the room, it is difficult to be sure if his tanned complexion is a gift of parentage, or is simply the accumulation of dirt and grime that also covers his simple leather armor. There is no question that he looks uncomfortable in here and as he continues, his voice betrays his nervousness.

I'm looking for work, especially something that would take me out of this place. I can work hard, and I can hold my own in a fight, if that's where you are headed. Finnian. I'm Finnian.

As he brushes back the long hair coming down over his face, he exposes brilliant amber eyes that survey the room. Those striking eyes dart about taking in the strange band gathered together, flashing quickly like nothing so much as a bird of prey scouting unfamiliar territory. As his head turns, the ears give away his mixed heritage as the Half-Elf continues to glance warily at the room.

I need work. I'll wait for another chance if these others have already signed up, but I'm ready to work now if you're still hiring.

With that, Finnian drops his bag to the ground, a short bow tied across the backpack, showing the longsword strapped to his back. As he folds his arms across his chest in a defensive posture, he asks the bartender for a cup of water.

OOC: I only got turned on to L4W a couple days ago and have been lurking for that time. I am just about finished transcribing my character into the wiki, but you'll notice I still need to update the Powers to Hit section.

With her decisions made, Miranna turned from the dragonborn back to Cheysuli, her voice still quiet though it sounded a bit less tortured now that she was not so stressed. "It seems like, with a first meeting such as this, that we are destined to be good friends- or mortal enemies. I would be grateful if we might find that out together, with the others of this company."

Then it is descided! She offers her arm to Miranna to seal the descision. Friends it is. Do you mind if ask why the 'Wilds erk you so?

Emral scratches his chin as the group seems to favour the cleric.

Jade? I don't know if any of you are aware, but that Island is peopled with Genasi. I'm a Genasi, anyone who looks at me can tell that. Ergo, I believe I would be useful! I mean, it's not like Daunton, where everyone comes from everywhere and no one's an outsider, right? As a Dauntonian, I'm also experienced in meeting different cultures... I don't have to tell any of you, but it's the truth. As a Wizard, I could manage the battlefield broadly, and have other varieties of ways to help. I leave the option open to you all.

[sblock=ooc question for everyone] Just spicing up the selection process. I just want to find a game, really, but Emral would want to see a land with other Genasi in it; part of his background. He would do it, so I'm playing that up :) No hard feelings either way, any game is good, so no sweat.:D[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] well as it's a really hard choice.... I'm going to have to go with Chey based on my characters interest in her character.. she's a warlock like he is and female... heh... well needless to say he wanted to know her better.... so that's how I'll e voting.. for Chey myself....[/sblock]

Patronis looks to the dragonborn and smiles a bit before speaking... "I feel Chey would most useful to us.. another warlock could be handy and we're all still getting to know each other and I'd like to know her better for my part... I say she should be our sixth..." he uttered at his intentions though masked slightly were still spoken without hesitation...

[sblock=first characters precedence]It has occurred to me that there is this implicit rule of courtesy that players that already have a character in an adventure (Hadarai is my second L4W character) should step out in favor of people who are not playing yet.
It's a bit awkward after Hadarai proposed himself, but there weren't even enough before, and in two days a lot of new characters arrived.
I was really looking forward to playing Hadarai, but I guess I'll have to wait...:erm:[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] I had a feeling this would happen. Almost good to go for days then a flood. I'm sad to see you stepping down Ata. But that is kind of the implicit rule which is unfortunate in this case for more then one reason.

And sorry I forgot you fragsie, I even had you ticked off as I counted them up, just didn't write it down. So right now as it sits we have 5 for definite: Miranna, Patronis, Bricks, Brenwar, and Cheysuli. And being unapproved isn't a problem, I looked at the sheets, you'll get your approval with a little bit of tweaking.

Like I said before it's up to you to decide before you leave. I'm going to reccomend the cleric, especially since you no longer have a warlord. But it's up to you. One way or another we'll make it work.

I'll open up the thread, and once you've decided if everyone could please make their intial post that would be great. I'll get the ball rolling tonight after work. Also please be patient with me as I work in Alberta Canada, and appear to be in a different time zone then most of you.[/sblock]

Well it seems you have things to discuss amongst yourselves before seeking glory in the emperor's service. I will be at the Embassy we have established here.

The aide passes a small piece of parchment with directions scribbled on it leading to what serves for a diplomatic quarter in Daunton.

I will be waiting there, and expect whoever will be accepting this offer present in no more then 4 bells. Ask the doorman for Hedorai Litora, they will admit you and escort you to my chambers where I will explain further.

With that Hedorai stands up from his stool, and walks out of the tavern.

Figures. I've been chasing luck for a month now, and it always remains a step ahead.

Finnian slings his bag over one shoulder, grabs the cup of water from the bar, and moves into a corner where he slouches down and sips at the cup. He looks up again and a wry smile works across his face.

Maybe if I sit still for a while, luck will come find me.

[sblock=OOC]Hey, looking forward to playing but I have no intention of cutting in line. I'm new here so pointers and tips are appreciated.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Hi, swarm of new people! I've been sitting on an adventure for a while now, so if my proposal is approved there'll should be another adventure running shortly. If not, well, L4E isn't exactly short of DMs...[/sblock]
