Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder - Second Darkness adventure path

Is anyone playing this campaign, or at least reading it and digging it? I just took a look at the second adventure, "Children of the Void" (which, if you allow me to toot my own horn, includes 'Teeth of Araska,' a pirate ship mini-adventure I wrote).

I'm enjoying the pseudo-sci-fi elements of the adventure. No robots, thankfully, but creepy space aliens go well with creepy drow. And I wish I'd thought of the "tower tilting and falling into the sea" scene. I'm going to have to steal that for my game.

Anyone else here grooving on Paizo's adventures?

Not so much on the first adventure - the basic set-up really wants a party of non-good (certainly non-lawful good) characters, and yet they're meant to be heroes by the end. I'm a bit sick of cities that are cesspools of scum and villainy. I think the overall arc looks nice, but I don't like the start that much.

Cheers!

I really liked the first. (As for the non-good PCs, the companion guide in the traits section gives a couple good reasons for good aligned PCs to be there somewhat incognito.)

I downloaded the second yesterday but haven't actually looked at it yet as I prefer the printed page.

I'm going to start running this on Saturday. should be fun.

Question, how did you get Chapter 2? I am a subscriber and I have not received it yet (electronic or print)

I got the "shipping soon" email yesterday, myself. Meaning that the download was available.

They fill the orders one at a time. Mine was filled yesterday. If you subscribe I would expect it today or tomorrow at the latest.

I actually don't care for this adventure path. I was very impressed with CotCT, and really liked parts of RotRL, but this one? Meh.

However, I am looking forward to seeing the creepy aliens and the meteor stuff, and maybe some info on the Darkness in the next issue.

We just completed the first module "Shadow in the Sky" - playing under the PFRPG system (with conversions of the encounters by daemonslye on Paizo's boards).

Overall the adventure went really well. We completed in 4 x 4 hour sessions, without doing the "set piece" adventure. Three out of the 4 players are big into PF, so they had already read most of the Campaign Setting (the same three are also in another campaign doing the first adventure path).

I don't want to go into any spoilers. Essentially the main premise of being partners in a casino was sufficiently fun to work with and the provided Paizo rules were light enough to be fun. The players were able to follow the plot, which (like any AP) gets a little rail-road here and there. Although, I must say, that for the final half of the module, the players were excitedly pulling the engine along the tracks (so, I guess it doesn't matter if it is a track they want to be on, right?). I'm guessing that if they are having fun playing, and that I'm (GM) rusty from a few years of very infrequent gaming, that things aren't going so bad.

They already fell for the lead into the second module "hook, line, and sinker", so no issue in continuing.

I just wanted to drop by and thank you guys personally for checking out Pathfinder and especially to those of you who subscribe. It's really great to hear about people using the Adventure Path, and we love feedback (good and bad). I am really digging Second Darkness so far, and am looking forward to the next couple of APs as well.

Rechan, there is excellent material coming in the rest of Second Darkness, adventure or otherwise. Some of the new monsters make me giddy.

Up next is a fantastical campaign involving efreeti princes and djinni heroines, of pocket dimensions, merchant empires, and gnolls aplenty. Ooh my that's going to be an awesome one.

And after that: CHELIAX!

Thanks again, guys!

That one sounds good. I'll stay a subscriber, then.

(The only reason I wasn't a subscriber for the first two was because I didn't have a credit card...)

Cheers!
