Halley's Hold'em

"Never tell me the odds? That's crazy talk! Winning is all about measuring the risk, playing the odds, and taking an occasional ride on the Comet !", quote from 'Sirius' Sam Dronan, winner of the '72 Pan-Galactic Halley's Hold'em Tournament at Freeport Station.
Computers can provide all types of competitive gaming but in the end when players want to test their luck and skill 'mano a mano' it’s the oldest random generators of gaming - dice or cards - that they trust most. Halley's Hold'em springs from that spirit of challenging the heavens using a modern incarnation of classic dice games. Each player starts with the same number of credits and buys into eight rounds of play to see who finishes flush and who goes bust. Each round has three stages and the 'hands' are listed around the betting wheel in ascending order. If you don't like the odds as they stand then change them by paying to Ride the Comet and add a fourth number to the combinations. But do so with caution - an unlucky comet roll can immediately knock you from the round.
Similar to poker, there are variations of play that change the aspects of the game. This makes Halley's Hold'em five or more games in one. Five variants are provided in the rules and gamers can create their own or stay tuned for free variants on line. The game comes with betting crystals and sets of dice for three players. Multiple sets or your own dice and Crystalline Counters can be combined to allow many more players to challenge each other at the same time. As many as a dozen players could all ante-in together for one massive game (more really but there will be more pot splitting with high numbers of players).
Halley's Hold'em is suitable for players aged 10 and up and is part of the Bags-o-Fun line. Like Elvish Checkers, Dwarf Stones and Gnome Crystals the game board is a fabric bag that serves as its own carrying case for the pieces, and makes it an excellent travel game. The three part rounds play fast, making this an exciting and dynamic game of trying to beat the odds - or folding against them. Depending on the variant in play everything can be on the table making it purely about testing your luck against others or with hidden rolls so that bluffing becomes an element of game play.

Sales Person “Nutshell” Description Pitch
Halley's Hold'em is a fast paced dicing game that doesn't require score pads as the target 'hands', turn number, and status of the comet die are all tracked on the game board while how many betting crystals you have reflects your current success. Variants with hidden rolls make the game more like poker as bluffing elements come into play. An unusual factor in this game is that is easily handles a high number of players while retaining a fast pace making it an excellent choice of gatherings of friends or family.
