Drawing on Sehanine's warm power to heal the arrow wound, Selenia stands shoulder to shoulder with Khemnos and slashes down again, opening a long gash in the hyena directly in front of her and searing a brand into its fur that seems to pull Khemnos' blade, guiding it towards the beast's vital organs.

Khemnos follows Selenia's lead and takes advantage of Sehanine's blessing. Just because he serves the Raven Queen doesn't make the tiefling impractical. Swinging his blade at the hyena, the blow lands, if only a glancing blow, but even that encourages Khemnos to fight on.

Jarl leveled the carved black rod at the beast that had attacked Midnight prepared to enact some retribution. However before he could make good on his plan the Erin rushed by him toward the main line of the fight.

Blast!

Damn fool women were going to get themselves killed acting like that. Fuming and grumbling to himself he made his way to the battleline and fell in next to Selenia. Seeing the arrow planted in her flesh he began to see red as the rage pounded through his veins. That mutt faced bastard had to be dealt with. He took another step forward, except this time he seemed to step through the membrane of the air itself his body disappearing as he moved through the phantom surface.

Next to the gnoll the air shimmered and stretched and expelled Jarl back into the world, smoke and steam and shadow followed him through like an unwholesome afterbirth enveloping him. The black bearded dwarf's face contorted with an abhorrent mixture of rage and delight as he fixed the gnoll with his baleful gaze.

What's yers is mine!

He thrust the black rod at the chest of the creature and bent all the greed and averice in his dwarven soul to his will. He lusted for the creature's very lifeforce and strained to pull it from its body. Misty tendrils tried to pull loose from the gnoll in the battle of wills.

Erin steps up to the front line with her orb raised high. She sends a magical wave of force through the line of hyenas, and the center one flies backwards violently.

Jarl flits over to the gnoll practically unseen and begins to suck the lifeforce from it.

Midnight takes a chance and wades through the pack of hyenas to reach her target, and is practically mauled for her efforts. Still, she manages to reach her target and loose a devistating blast of magical energy into it.* (takes 20 damage from OAs)

Sehanine answers Selenia's call, closing her wounds almost completely. A hot spray of blood slashes her face as a new gash opens up in the hyena in front of her.

Khemnos takes advantage of the opening granted with Selenia's attack and finishes off the hyena.**

The gnoll takes a step back and raises its bow again, leveling at the glimmer that is Jarl. The arrow flies wide, however, and Jarl remains unharmed.

The farthest hyena steps up again and snaps at Midnight, but its razor-like teeth catching nothing but air. The last hyena lunges at Erin, and the wizard isn't so lucky as the beast tears a hole into her flesh.***

Selenia steps in between the two Hyenas as their attention is drawn outwards, and takes advantage of the distraction to land a telling blow on the so-far unwounded one, channeling the blessings of Sehanine through her blade to simultaneously heal the two nearby casters. She lets out a crow of victory and laughs, "That's how it's done people, let's wrap this one up quick so I can have lunch already."

Erin cries out and reaches down with her free hand to grab the leg that the hyena mauled. It comes away bloody, and her eyes narrow.

"Aren't you the feisty one?" she growls. If she felt any uncertainty from the hyena's attack, it's dispelled when Selenia's power flows around her. With a hard smile she adds, "Any dog can get lucky once."

The orb in her hand shines with cold blue light, and unseen wind whips her hair around as she thrusts it forward again.

"Back!"

Another wave of pure magical force blasts out, rending the air with a peal of thunder.

Jarl took a quick step back to give himself a little more room to build up speed as he thrust the black rod back through his belt. Gripping his warhammer tightly in both hands he launched himself bodily at the gnoll swinging the weapon in a great arc with a roar.

The hyena never had a chance to recover from Erin's wave of force; Midnight's blast again knocks it off its feet,and this time it doesn't get up.*

* I originally though Jarl's attack would hit the gnoll, but I was wrong (go figure). Since the first attack killed the gnoll, I redirected the second to H2, which is now also dead. Great round for Midnight! (despite all my questions)
** Since there was no post from garyh, I ghosted Khemnos with a basic attack.
*** H1 shifts, then runs.
