Suddenly a new group of apparent enemies bursts angrily from the trees, almost surrounding you. There are two humans-at least they look human. One is alone and the other is handling a hyena. But the most ominous looking of the bunch is the red, muscular-looking beast with massive claws and dripping fangs.
"Go!" the hyena handler shouts, and the hyena springs toward Khemnos. Fortunately the teifling is able to dodge the approaching beast.*
*The hyena is actually one square SW of Khemnos. It'll be updated on the next map.

It looks like an evistro, a demon.
Rituals known to demon-worshiping cultists and certain depraved wizards can summon evistros to the world. However, evistros are notoriously difficult to control—usually, the best their summoner can accomplish is to send them out
to wreak havoc. Sometimes, though, they turn on their summoner before extending their rampage.
The Evistro is not armored.
The humans are armed with halberds and crossbows, and are wearing chainmail.
The hyena is, well... a hyena.
On seeing the demon, Erin feels a cold knot clench in the pit of her stomach. What godsforsaken place had the doorway taken them to, where demons openly walked among men?
She lifts the small crystalline ball in her hand and concentrates. Blue-white light coruscates around it, then lances out towards the demon, tearing through the bushes and branches in a blast of pure arcane energy!
