Suggestions for Star Wars minis?

Hey all,

I getting ready to run a Star Wars campaign, and I am disappointed by the selection of "official" Star Wars minis I have seen so far. I may end up just using my fantasy minis anyway, but I thought I'd at least ask the nice people here to see if anyone knows of some appropriate-looking miniatures (not too fantastic, but not too Sci Fi either) I could buy and where I could locate them.

To make this problem even more interesting, two of the characters are not human: one is a keldor jedi, the other a zabrak tech specialist (I am writing this from memory, so I might have the races misspelled or confused). Of course, they don't need to look exact, but closer than, say, your average lizardman mini. :)

Any ideas would be welcome and thanks in advance!

Get a 1.5" battlemat and use action figures... (probally a bit bigger on the grid... but it looked really neat at the wizards castle at gencon...)

Although that's probally a bad idea due to cost and effort...

I have a bunch of plastic guys with lazers from the buck rogers board game I use for any sci-fi stuff I do that I got from American Science and Surplus a while back...

em4 minis (distributed by Crystal Caste in USA) has a great range of
1. Ultra-good-value pre-painted (WELL PAINTED!) sf minis, including a small Aliens set, only just over £2 each.

2.An extensive range of old Grenadier 'Future Warriors' unpainted sf minis, still look very good and only £1/$1.50 each! They are primarily near-future/Cyberpunk but most are good for generic sf.

See:

New sf minis by Nick Lund of Future Warriors are available at:

- These are a bit more expensive, but very very nice.

The Trooper minis would make good rebel soldiers if painted in tan, khaki etc, or Imperials if painted black (Navy) or grey (Army).

My own sf minis are a mix of Grenadier Combat Zone and Fantasy Forge Kryomek minis - I don't know who are making the latter now - their SWAT trooper combat-armoured minis are particularly good for far future games, they'd look a lot like Star Wars Stormtroopers if painted white & black.
