D&D 4E Not Suitable For Work: A 4e Design Contest Idea

EP

Then, you need to be lenient about naming-collisions. You don't want to disqualify a really cool feat entry just because there is some warlock power with the same name (or some other technicality that makes it GSL incompatible). Just make sure the entry doesn't violate the spirit of the GSL ("This feat is for use with my house rule where hit points are replaced with a damage threshold...").

Good point. Skip the GSL thing but it will have to be something that will work with the core rules or any other material specifically listed. Like if Goodman has something coming out that could work with that month's theme. Anything that will work on its own as is, no house rules.

This is just what we need 4e material created from 'memory of the rules'. This is such an epic fail waiting to happen. 3rd party publishers can't get things right as is with sources in front of them, playtesters, and proofreaders. Now let's get Bob from data entry to whip up a sweet feat from his vague recall of underwater combat rules combined with the dazed (or is it stunned?) effect. Meh. We have a ton of half-baked ideas floating around in pdf form (go to rpgnow and check out the mangled versions of the assassin and necromancer for some glaring examples of shaky grasp of rules and of good game design in general) and in the interwebs.

Just make a cool contest without the crazy addition of "don't look up the rules, cause we might get things right the first time."
