• Free RPG Day is this Saturday This Saturday (20 June) is Free RPG Day. If you're unfamiliar with the concept, it's a bit like Free Comic Book Day: You drop in at your local shop, and they give you some free RPG stuff. And no old, throw-away junk from the back room, either, but new items of real value, provided by the manufacturers specifically for this global event. The lineup of stuff retailers will have this year includes adventures, rules, and/or accessories from about a dozen publishers, including WotC (an Eberron adventure with a Dungeon Tile!), FFG (a Rogue Trader adventure--how cool is that?), Paizo, Mongoose, White Wolf (preview of Geist!), Goodman Games, and more.

 • Hearts of Chaos Free Downloadable Supplement This Saturday is Free RPG Day. Goodman Games and Dias Ex Machina are releasing an Amethyst module, Hearts of Chaos, which offers a story-based adventure, while also introducing the basic elements of the setting and gameplay. What makes this Free RPG Day module different from the rest is that it also has a free online supplement. This supplement includes additional encounters as well as five pregenerated characters using the new classes present in the final book. These characters are "techan"-based, meaning they use firearms and technology instead of magic. Those interested should hurry to DEM or Goodman Games and download the supplement before the event.

Wouldn't wizards have to prove that the people who did illegally download those books also not purchase a hard copy? Or does it not work that way?

I am no lawyer.

I'm just saying since the defendents didn't make any money off the illicit act, the complaint has to be that they allowed other people to "steal" the book, meaning not pay for a copy when obtained, but if those people that did download it also paid for a hard copy... Or is that simantics?
