Harn d20?

Hi all,

I'm plugging away at a Harn D20 conversion document to post up on the web. Specifically, I'm looking to convert all the Harnmaster Spells, Races, Monsters, and Cities.

Things I'd like to do is create a rule conversion for Harnmaster Piety Rules, figure out how to make the Shek-Pvar feel like Shek-Pvar, etc.

I've never played Harnmaster, but I was planning on running a Harnworld game using d20 at one stage. It ended up looking like more work than I had time for...

Anyhoo... Check Shane Moralis' d20 Harn Guide. Also, Columbia Game's Nasty, Brutish & Short has some notes on the topic.

Personally I'd make all wizard's specialists and at every third level (or is it fourth) let them add a new school. This kinda breaks d20 a bit, but you should be able to tweak it back into order.

Oops. I didn't read your post carefully enough. I don't think either Shane or Columbia Games cover Piety rules in d20. Sorry...

I'm just getting into Harn for the first time in my life, but I'm really just plundering the setting for d20 use. I've got the book for religion, elves, orcs, barbarians, and generic setting. I don't know if I'd be much help at this time.

Campaign...

I played a Harnmaster Gold rules, Harnmaster campaign for about 7 years. I'd say it's got great d20 potential, if you can capture the middle-earth, rare-and-subtle-magic, gritty and fatal feel. That's what I'm looking toward working on as a pet project.

Shane's d20 rules and the most recent releases by Columbia games show that they're trying to go d20, but they aren't d20 gurus. Having played d20 for the last year or two in my Forgotten Realms Campaign, I think I'm ready to go back and take a stab at Harn.

Doing up a Gulmorvin in d20 would be absolutely scary ...
I'd do Shek-Pvar as their own Basic Class, like a specialist Sorcerer. You could multiclass into other specialties (Lyahvi, Peleahn, Jmorvi, etc), and Gray Mage would be a prestige class...

Still looking for helpers. Anyone out there interested? I could set up a web site if we could get some volunteers of the d20-knowledgable crowd.

Harn? Oh sure, I love it. I don't feel its suitable for a d20/D&D game, however. The level of detail, grittiness, and low-magic works best for Rolemaster, IMO. (My system for choice when running Harn.)

My main frustration with Harn is Columbia Games. For all of its quality and history (the setting's been around for ages) it's languished in obscurity. One day I hope Harn will reach the larger audience it deserves.
