    • Hatred: Dwarves receive a +1 bonus on attack rolls against humanoid creatures of the orc and goblinoid subtypes due to special training against these hated foes.
    • Hardy: Dwarves receive a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison, spells, and spell-like abilities.
    • Stability: Dwarves receive a +4 racial bonus to their Combat Maneuver Defense when resisting a bull rush or trip attempt while standing on the ground.
    • Stonecunning: Dwarves receive a +2 bonus on Perception checks to potentially notice unusual stonework, such as traps and hidden doors located in stone walls or floors. They receive a check to notice such features whenever they pass within 10 feet of them, whether or not they are actively looking.
    • Weapon Familiarity: Dwarves are proficient with battleaxes, heavy picks, and warhammers, and treat any weapon with the word “dwarven” in its name as a martial weapon.

    Covus is a tall young man. he has the look of a person who spends a lot of time outdoors, that dark tanned and weathered look. Despite that, he is clean and has a quick smile and a fair wit, when he chooses to use it. His armor is usually hidden under his tunic, and his green, weather-stained cloak is the first thing most folks notice, when they notice him.


    Background
    Corvus was born in the wilds of the Ardeep forest there he learned much of his woodcraft and tracking. His father was a ranger and made a decent living out of the woods. Corvus was growing into a fine young man and looked to follow in his father's path. Corvus though desired to see more than just the forest and crossed the Dessarin and headed to Waterdeep. He was fascinated by the mountain and spent much time wandering the trails there. he spend many months trying to find the various ways into the legendary Undermountain. He found a few promising caves, but none of them panned out. Corvus though grew to know many people who live in the foothills and became adept at finding those who were lost or were stealing from the farmers and herdsmen. But Waterdeep itself was a mystery to him. He had been inside many times, and yet it always found a way to surprise him with some new wonder.

    Though his orc heritage is obvious in his skin color and size, his features are only slightly non-human: a thicker brow, slight point to the ears and the barest hint of orcish fangs. He cultivates his humanity further through immaculate grooming. He wears both Ilmater's holy symbol and the signet ring of his house with immense pride.


    Background
    Tanem's mother was the rebellious daughter of a wealthy and politically powerful family whose ultimate act of rebellion--an affair with an orc soldier--lead to Tanem's birth. While the disgrace her family suffered was exactly what she'd been after, Mina Desroy found she wanted her son to experience none of it. She raised him to believe he was as worthy of the Desroy family's popularity, clout, and high standing as any legitimate, fully-human child, and she taught him through example to fiercely defend that belief. And he had to defend it, from taunts and jibes and bullies, quite often.

    Tanem grew up, then, fully convinced of the nobility of his soul and committed to defending those who--like him--suffered for no good reason. He joined the church of Ilmater, patron of the martyred, and soon found himself called to its martial service. Beyond his skilled swordarm, Tanem is schooled in politics from his human family, and is equally capable of tapping his 'savage' blood to encourage cooperation by those of less sophisticated sensibilities
