If there's one thing I like better than announcing new iPlay4e features, it's announcing new iPlay4e features that I didn't have to do any work for. A dynamic duo of Andrews (Siefer and Aiken) have taken advantage of the iPlay4e API and built some pretty nifty integrations with their own products - some of which are now accessible by clicking links right within iPlay4e. Here's what they've gifted us with:
  • Combat tracking using inCombat by Andrew Siefer. Available directly in your campaign's new Fight menu, this excellent product will read in your entire party at once! Just make sure the campaign and the characters are public.
  • Campaign planning using Masterplan by Andy Aiken. Your character key (available in the Link/Embed menu) can be entered right into his lovely product, which is available here: http://www.habitualindolence.net/masterplan/
  • Printable character sheets using Shado's Sheet Generator by Andrew Siefer. Available in your character's File menu.
As always, the site is available at http://iplay4e.com

Some other items of note:

  • There is a new Links page with third party tools and sites we appreciate. If we forgot you, please forgive and remind us.
  • We've created a new google group for 3rd party developers, complete with API documentation: http://groups.google.com/group/iplay4e-api
Enjoy!

I have got a feature request for the print.

It would be SO nice getting all my powers, hp, healing surge count, healing surge value, bloodied value, defences, initiative, speed and skills on a single page. No equations or anything like that, just the pure numbers to cram all the info into a single page.

So, instead of: Acrobatis 3 = 1/2 level +abilitymod+trained+racial+misc-armor
I would want: Acrobatics = 3

Regarding the powers, you really need the Hit/Miss/Effect lines for them to be usable without another sheet, and there would have to be space for like 20+ powers to cover all the levels.

To save space you would probably want to either group the powers by type (at-will first, then encounter, then daily).

See my signature for my excel version to see what I used until I started relying on the character builder. I have tried to cram too much info onto the page, the calculations really aren't necessary and just clutter it up.

Really? [Masterplan] looked pretty exciting to me too, but once I fired it up, it turned into a usability nightmare. How has it helped you?
I put together the next few encounters for my game in a few minutes, organizing them within my game's framework. I added a map to one of the encounters by building it from tiles. That took a couple of tries to get right, because I didn't know the tiles, but after I actually looked through the entire list, it only took me a few minutes to build a 37 x 37 square map.

It took a LONG time to downoad all the DDI info. Also, the UI lacks a bit of flexibility or intuitiveness, but the manual seemed pretty complete. I haven't given it a lot of time, but seeing the encounters organized in a flow chart made me want to set up some skill challenges, which are fully supported.
