Adventure: Into the Wild

Neurotic

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
Rocco glares at the panther which somehow evades his constant barrage of light strikes. As the panther hits him, facade of calm drops, his face distorts into one of raging barbarian, his tattooes and chains making it even more intimidating. Even his axe lights in cold gray flames. He winds up and swings at the panther with all his power and terrible blow kills the panther even as cold fire leaves the blood frozen in the wounds.

He then scrambles up the slope toward the witch, but slides down before really starting

Renquist is almost as stunned by Abigail's blinding sword burst as the ant swarm, but then notices her wounds and ant bites as she drops back.

"Nay, stay focused on me, fey creature."

The collection of ants feel the judging stare of Lauto.

Renquist strikes again with his blade, encased in dark radiant energy...

The pace of the battle has slowed and Ibram gains just a little more focus from all the calm. The ants before him swarm over Renquist and make a small meal out of the unholy Paladin.

With their dwindling numbers, it gets easier to finish the rest of them off, but harder to hit more in one swing. Ibram tries to use the flat part of his Fullblade to squash the rest of the creatures.

When the ants bite into Ibram, Abigail flickers back next to them and attacks in retaliation, hoping to finish the last of them off. Unfortunately, she's unable to do more than flatten a handful of them.

[sblock=Metavoid]Um, it's a tricky, but when you are splashing healing on the second target, you are in effect using a power on him. Unlike most power, it isn't spelled out that the this a secondary target but in effect that's what it is. My ruling for the adventure, anyway. Use it!
[/sblock]

[sblock=Tactics]Now that the fight is over, I don't mind telling you I am surprised at how passively you took the Swarm's aura.

Barring any special mobility power, you can at least shift away from the swarm at least one round out of two.

Round 1:Move into contact, attack, get hit by the aura at the start of next turn)
Round 2:Already in contact, attack, shift away, do NOT get hit by the aura (unless the swarm follows you, but if it does, your allies won't be in the aura at the beginning of their turn... Either way, fewer free basic attack against the party)

Rinse and Repeat. You let the swarm get in way more attack than it could have if youd had shifted in and out of the aura. Remember that for the next time!

Ibram forgot his save:

Swarm vs Renquist AC (1d20+8=10, 1d6+3=8) miss

If still in the aura at the beginning of their turn, hit Abi for 6 (which would knock her out), Hit Ibram for 5. If one of these things happen, the swarm take 4 radiant dmg

Crazy Lady

Hey look at that, two hits, one crits! In spite of the -5!
[/sblock]

The Swarm is on it last legs. Maybe two or three hundred legs remaining, tops.

The crazy lady is watched carefully by the Nementah's spirit companion. Despite this, she manages to steps back and succeed an almost miraculous blast of thunder that stuns Rocco and Dante (Mind you, at this point, Dante barely remembers his name so it's not too hard)

Renquist gives Dante an acknowledging nod after the kama landed squarely into the last of the ants.

He jogs over to the stone, but is unable to find a secure hand hold to climb up the wall.

Abigail flicks off the last of the ants, then moves to the rock, scrabbling against the surface and falling back. Frustrated, she steps back and clenches her fist, her arm immediately igniting. She thrusts her open palm forward and the whole top of the rock is engulfed in flames, including the crazy lady on the top.
