[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

They say the longest journey begins with a single step, and his journey had indeed been long. The road from the South was great and arduous, and plagued with perils, but he had still made it. He arrived in Venza with the promise he could make something of himself, and his vow that he would.

He entered the Dunn Wright Inn. He didn't think anything of it other than that it was crowded, so it would surely have something for him to do. So he sat at the bar. He was about to speak when the Halfling had approached, inquiring about work. It seemed harmless enough, so he resolved to follow the little one instead. And so it was that, with a single step, Samad Salil began his new journey.

"Another necromancer?" Cavernous Hode says in puzzlement, overhearing Lem. "Cavernous Hode was given to understand that necromancers are fairly rare. Hmm, perhaps they are migrating? Like geese. Cavernous Hode could not help but notice that a few weeks ago, Venza's parks were veritably filled with a plethora of the creatures, but they were not there before and they have since gone on to such places as geese go after exploring Venza. This would tend to support the necromancer migration theory. On the other hand, the necromancer that Cavernous Hode encountered made very different noises than the geese did, which would tend to refute the necromancer migration theory. A conundrum, to be sure."

A new person walks in, a young-ish, athletic elf with a green and red vest, britches in the same color and a traveling hat over his short, but unruly brown hair. He's carrying a large backpack, at the bottom of which there is a small mesh that holds a bongo drum. He does not have the look of a seasoned warrior about him, but he carries his spear and bow as if he's not quite strange to them either

Ah, the Dunn Wright inn. It had been a while since he'd visited it, it seemed to have become quite the adventurer's den in the meantime. That suited him just fine, really. He had done his fair share of wandering about, but it seemed to get a little dull at times, and after the last time he'd seen Arani he'd been meaning to check just how it was. "Afternoon, ladies and gents," Erinth says politely, lifting a hand as he walked in. "May joy find you and sorrow miss you."

He listens to the tales about necromancers for a while, nodding curiously, before adding. "Oh no, no, some necromancers do travel north for the winter. They have to get their cold weather plumage, though, so they muck about a little first so they can molt from their old robes. Very strange things they are then, I've heard, flesh all runny and bubbly. They shed their old masks and have to beat their faces with the rocks so they can get new ones. Sad thing, really, drives most of them insane. Why, there was that tale about Blutius Gadolnir, just the strangest thing I've heard - didn't know zombies could ever bend that way... Excuse me, though. Nice afternoon to you."

Hey, if they could tell tall tales, so could he. As he heard about someone looking for people, that piqued his interest. Well now, what was this about? He'd been meaning to get a few drinks, but this could wait - just in case he had to be sober...

Aw, darn it. He'd get a drink anyway. "A mug of decent wine, dear", he said to a nearby barmaid and left her the money, with a few coppers extra. "If I'm not here, please bring it to room 3." With that, he himself headed in that direction.

A cloaked figure strides into the Dunn Wright Inn, confidence in their graceful step. Wrapped in thick clothing, they step up to the bar, speaking in a low and hushed voice.
"One ale," the figure whispers, "And have you, by any chance, heard of any work available for the adventuring sort?"

"Check Room 3. Some gnome fella's back there with something for you greenhorns." Grog pours the ale as he points to the back rooms.

OOC: Assuming you head back there, that'll fill up Special Delivery.

Or not, as it would seem. The crowd had been a mixed blessing. On the one hand, it had led him to this inn, where he was now certain he could find work. On the other hand, he had lost the halfling in it. Dejected, he returned to the bar, and thought for a moment. Perhaps this was a sign, maybe it was for the best that he not go, a sign from the heavens that his true path had not yet been revealed. Very well, if this was Bashu's wish, to rest and wait, then he would fulfill it. He could be patient.

He waved down the bartender. Though he wasn't fluent in Venzan, he knew enough to get by. "Are there... other jobs... you know of?"

"Ahhhhh, the sweet promise of adventure" the tengu said as soon as he found the activity at the Inn. As always whenever he just arrived in a place like this he would go to the bartender. Convention dictated that he at least had to get a drink if he was going to enjoy himself.

As he asked the bartender for "a mug of whatever's good here" Paskell took a quick look around the tavern to see if he can spot anything interesting before continuing "is there anything new going on in town?"

A Stout Red Bearded Dwarf Pushes his way into the Dunn Wright Inn. The Smell of Ale and Smoke wafting through the door was a pleasant greeting even before he entered the Tavern. The Travel From Tal Hallow was exhausting and but well worth the travel, his father's last wish was that he come here and make a new life for himself. After 2-3 years of Bounty Hunting in Tal Hallow, the Dwarf found himself with enough Gold and a lead on a Bounty for a Human that is on the Run after a "Small" disagreement with the Guards in Tal. The Trail has gone cold shortly after arriving in Venza and the only logical thing for a tired dwarf is to Bust out his Tankard at one of the Finest Inn's in the City of Glass.

"Aye, make it a tankard o' Stout will ye?" As he unlatches his Ale Mug and slams it on the Counter "Ye would'n happen to know a human by tha name o' Hagon Jovax?" As he says this he places his elbow on the bar and makes a scan of the tavern to see if his Inquiry just so happens to have the same idea as him.
