Larissa considers Melisande's question. "There are gods worshipped in Rorn," she says, "But it is somewhat like it is here. They are mostly from foreign lands, and dwell in large cities. Few families worship both a god and the Saints. It would be..."

The priestess pauses, trying to find the words. "The gods of Venza seem to make demands on their worshipers, to create a path for them. But the Saints are different -- They were once mortals. We follow them because they trod the path, not because they ordained it. I speak sometimes of my Lady commanding things, but in truth, she commands only by example." She looks at Melisande. "What I am trying to say is that worshiping a god is quite different from following a Saint. A god uses his strength and wisdom to make a path for mortals, and through their actions, influences the world. The Saints created their paths in life and most never called on those around them to follow -- We follow because they epitomize what we long to be. There is no plan behind it, no divine force hoping to guide history." She looks earnestly at Melisande. "Do you understand?"

Melisande was not sure what exactly a nun was, her experience mainly with paladins and priests. Though some lay worshipers held positions in some temples without actually being either, so she thought maybe that was more what Larissa meant. That was until the other woman mentioned ‘fellow traveler’.

“Oh, a traveler? Does that mean it is common for those of your order to move around through the lands and realms often?”

“Or were you speaking more about a spiritual journey of discovery more a kin to an oracle trying to decipher the mysteries all around us?”
