[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

Kanli closes his eyes a moment, and reopens them. "The Red Hand Clan."

He looks at the monk a moment, then at the others in the room, then bows from his seated position. "Of course, how orcish of me. Red is the color of life, the glow of the ember, the surging course of magma. Red is the color of creation. The Hand is a versatile tool, not the mere blunt force of the fist, nor the promise of death of the claw. And the clan is what binds the group together, common in purpose and family. For most orcs, the two are the same, yet they may change over a lifetime."

Kanli leans back, palms open. "It is a fitting symbol for those who dream of a better world. But perhaps... it is not human enough? Clan is what else, Brotherhood? Society? Do you prefer a different color or quality?"

"'Hand' sound very good, but I would prefer 'society' over 'clan'. 'Red' sounds a bit aggressive, but that hasn't to be a bad thing."

Kanli grins and claps. "The Red Hand Society it is, then! May the world know our works, and rejoice!"

He guffaws good-naturedly and continues, "This would make the symbol quite simple, then." He pulls out his greataxe and carefully places it on the table before him. He makes a meditative hum, and places the palm of his hand on the blade, his fingers outstretched. Taking his palm away, a vermillion palmprint remains on his blade.

"If that works, I can give you such a mark. Do not worry, it will fade in a month on living flesh."

Kanli raises his hands triumphantly. "The Red Hand Society!"

In the air, his hands deepen in hue, crimson streaks radiating down his forearms. Clearly not glistening or wet, Kanli's hands look tattooed more than anything. The half-orc examines his own hands with approval.

"It is good, there are many who wish to see this world better. Come, let us all bring Venza, bring E'n, bring all creation the glory of our good works!"

He raises a finger and scans the room. "Would anyone else like a mark?"

Thy wounds are healed!
Markus looks at his own hands, worn and callused. He lays them flat on the table and shakes his head at the half-orc to say "No".

You belonged to a brotherhood of sorts before. Why do you back away from companionship now? He asks himself.

Think you'd be better off if that purple worm would have swallowed you?
