Defender (Lvl 8)
Artemis's face seems to darken, "...not feeling so pure these days..."
But then he smiles and shakes off the shadow, smiling large, "This, my friend Gil, is the School of Hard Knocks. This is our first day of lessons and Shi Ye, Ianward, Vander and myself are all your mates in this adventure. The lesson, it seems today, is to find ourselves a better place in this world..."
"That may be in spirit..." raising his mug to indicate Shi Ye
"...or knowledge..." indicating Gil
"...or women!..." a smile and nod to Vander
"...or... Damn Ian! You've barely said a word. Tell us, what is it you want? Where are you coming from? Better yet, where do you want to be?"

Waghalter (Lvl 7)
Gil assumes that Artemis is a teacher, suddenly it clicks, the IAC must be a charter school. Graduates must complete group projects or something, maybe this is a test already... I'll show the school what a Gilgamesh can do!
Gil plucks up at the realization, Yes Ian, do tell your goals, I'm sure we can all help each other to achieve a higher purpose.

Minor Trickster (Lvl 4)
Ianward looks up from his mug, a blank look on his face as he hears Artemis calling his name.
"Never really been a man of words myself", he responds. "But if there's something to drink for, let's drink for the future."
"As to why am I here? Strength", with a serious look on his face he continues talking, his left eye sometimes glowing with power as he reminisces something painful, his hand going by reflex to his scar.
"I seek the strength to protect my own beliefs. Life has showed me that you can't just sit back and enjoy the view... you have to fight for it. And for that you need strength."

The tavern doors burst open, a young boy, barely old enough to hold a sword, steps in. Hey everyone! My name's Mercurial, and this here is Scrapper! the child holds up a tiny mechanical man in the palm of his hand. I hope we can all be friends.
The boy takes a seat at the bar, but you suddenly realize that something is off, because where the boy was, now there is an elderly Orc woman. And I'd like a glass of milk if you've got any, but if you don't, water will be fine.

Feeling refreshed after a nice long nap, Bones re-enters the tavern--with a wink at the pretty elf-maid seated at a corner table. He saunters up to the bar, "I'll have a half-pint of your double-brewed." Upon receiving his ale from the barkeep, Bones plunks a few coins on the bar in payment. He then turns to face the patrons, "Did I hear someone say there's adventure to be found? I hope it's dark and dangerous. When do we start?"

The old Orc perks up at the human's words. Adventure? That sounds fun! then, in an instant, the old Orc is replaced with a male elf, with perfect gold hair.

"I'm Bones, nice to meet you." The young rogue offers a hand to the golden-haired elf, as he takes a pull from his ale. "That's quite a talent for disguise. I've had only a little practice at the art myself--but only in the most crude and mundane forms. All the same, it's a good trick to have in one's bag. I've come from the continent, seeking treasures of the old Allarian Empire. I've heard tales that great stores of the treasury were hidden below ground on these islands."

This must be a graduate school, look at the displays of advanced skill. Gil marvels at the different specialists displaying their talents even in casual social interaction. How do they keep order here, so many different cultures, the logistics must be staggering. Gil had never been around so many differing races at once. His scholarly curiosity took over, as he made an attempt at memorizing everything at once.
When that failed entirely, he returned to the conversation, smiling all the while. Ianward, do you speak of mental strength, physical strength, or strength of character? All of which are fine goals, but it sounds like you already have one of the three. Gil glances the room again, The IAC School of Hard-knocks seems to be quite the Magnet University, such a plethora of diversity I've never seen. I don't even know the name of several things that shape-shifter is portraying. Glancing back at Artemis, whom he's almost sure is a teacher now, Gil asks, When do classes start?

Leonard Doherty, Merchant Bard lvl 3
A young man enter the tavern. His hair are in a mess, his clothes seems to have suffered from bad condition. As he enter the place, he seems angry. "I can't believe they will do nothing." he tells with exasperation.
The barmaid point a sign. The man look a moment. "Leonard Doherty, merchant... no, not anymore. Those pirates have sunken my ship! And the authority of Daunton will do nothing because it was out of their territory water... How am I suppose to carry my goods without a ship! Those bastards have sunken my ship!"
He sits at the bar and looks at the barmaid. "Give me your hardest drink... triple the quantity... forget it, give me that bottle instead." The barmaid give the man a glass that he drink in a single shot. The barmaid fill the glass again before leaving the man alone.
"Experience is that great thing that allow you to see a mistake when you do it again."
