What was the thought behind downgrading the druid's 13th level ability "a thousand faces" from using the 2nd level spell alter self, to using the 1st level spell disguise self?

Not that I'm worried, I don't think I've ever seen a 3.x druid use the ability. Ever.

Eric, we didn't make any changes to this ability. When putting the book together (and cross-checking rules), I used the latest and greatest version of the SRD I could find that included all errata.

If you do some searching, you'll find that A Thousand Faces is based on the disguise self spell.

That's cool. I'm one of those troglodytes that's stuck in the dead tree format, and that's the version that gets used in perpetuity. Errata and online FAQ's be damned. I was just comparing with the ability as it appeared in the book at my hands.
