Yes they really don't need to talk to each other they just "know" what the other wants. And when they do it is usually Raistlin belittling his brother and Caramon just saying, "Yes Raist." or "Sure Raist."

They do talk to the others more than each other. So you up for it WD?

I would like for him to have the specialist benefits but no penalties, and in place he will have the following drawback.

Raistlin is only at his best health when he is "full" of magic. When he has casted over half of his spell levels in spells for the day he starts to suffer physically.

    * -1 to hit and damage
    * cannot run or swim or any other activity that causes exertion
    * Str is considered 5 for opening doors and bend bars etc. Though he can still carry the same weight
    * diblutatling cough (at 0 spell lvls) cough is so bad he cannot do anything but cough and move at 1/2 speed

The above drawbacks can be surrpressed for two hours by drinking an herbal tea special for his condition.

I think when Raistlin was a black robe he was "healthier" because he had more magic lvls and didn't go below half as much.

    Note on magic levels:
As it is now Raistlin can cast two first and one second level spell. That is a total of 4 spell levels. 1 + 1 + 2
So when he has casted his second level spell and then one of th efirst he would be below half, and suffer the drawbacks above.

If he becomes what I am calling an overall specialist, he will recieve the following:

    * May cast one more spell per spell level, i.e. three first and two second as a 3rd lvl magic user.
    * +1 to saves vs all spells, and -1 to anyone making a save vs a spell Raistlin casts.
    * +15% to learn a new spell
    * auotmatically learns one new spell at each level
Speaking of houserules let me know what you think of the above ruling to help make Raistlin more like the man who would say, "It is pointless I will not waste my strength."

Sounds good to me. Is there a penalty for being an overall specialist?

No his shattered health is the penalty.

So you will just need to sblock in these rules to your copy of Raistlin's character sheet in the RG. And when you post your spells it should maybe look like this:

    Spells

All spell saves against are at -1
    Spell levels: 7/7

1st: Sleep, Magic Missile, Detect Magic
    2nd: Darkness, Mirror Image

Do I have to keep darkness? It was the former players decision. I would prefer web.

Well seeing as how he just had spells listed without the bonus you could have web and darkness. And add a first level spell. I don't see you needing spells now that combat is over but you never know LOL. I casted the Magic Missile that battle was looking a little tougher than I had original thought. Which would bring Raistlin to:

    Spell Levels - 5/7

Cast one second lvl spell and he will have the penalties, he would probably wait and only cast when absoultely needed.

An update for everyone, I will be advancing the thread along tomorrow in two posts.

The first being the companions returning to the inn, and the second the meeting of Goldmoon and Riverwind. So if you wish any further inter-action just assume you are on your way and will be at the inn just as darkness falls.
