Pathfinder 1E Scotley's and Leif's Constables of the 14th Ward - Main Action Thread [3.5E D&D] [IC 04]

Tunnel to the Patriarch's Abode

In due course, after roughly about seven minutes of walking, as near as your wrist sundials can compute, the constables reach a round room, Directly in front of you, in the middle of the room, is a flight of stairs leading upward. The stairs begin about one-third of the way across the room, and the room also extends further in your direction of travel than the top of the stairs. For obvious reasons you cannot see all of the far wall, since there is a pesky staircase in the way. But the room has other exits in the middle of both side walls, where there are stout, reinforced doors.

Raul suggests, "I'll check out the doors and room here, head up the stairs quietly, and I'll catch up." Raul speeds up and checks to see if each door is locked and what is beyond the stairs on the far side of the room.

OOC: increase move to 50, inspect the room moving clockwise around the wall.

The other side of the room that was behind the stairs is just a wall. The door to the left leads into a storeroom of old furniture, some storage chests, and assorted bric-a-brac. The door to the right opens on a wine cellar.

Up Into the Patriarch's Abode

The Constables troop up the stairs. There is a small landing at the top (10 feet by 10 feet), and a heavy mahogany door is to your right at the top of another short flight of three stairs. The massive door is bound with stout bands of heavily forged iron, and the lockplate and a small hatchway door, six inches by eight inches and about 5 feet up from the bottom of the door, are made of copper. There is a cord coming down from the ceiling just next to the door with a placard posted beside it bearing gold lettering that reads, "Guests Pull Please."

Up Into the Patriarch's Abode

After several interminable moments, the constables finally hear the shuffle of approaching footsteps. What! It sounds like whoever it is has his feet wrapped up in ill-fitting gunney sacks!

The hatchway door opens just a sliver and a voice, clearly still half-asleep, says, "Blimey, Silver Tooth! I musta felled asleep after His Holiness tarned in arely. Wha' bloody time is it, and wha' d'you 'ave for us that can't wait 'til marnin'?"
