At Red Rock -- Yeosham Chorus

Something of a retcon called for here based on Raul's newly posted actions. This description trumps all earlier posts.

When Alarion and company enter Yeosham Chorus's room and he flees, Alarion and Brae move to chase him down the front stairs as soon and as quickly as they are able. Chorus nevertheless has something of a head-start on the party. As Alarion and Braevil begin to descend the front staircase, a lounging Raul hears a ruckus similar to someone running down a flight of stairs, evidently from somewhere deeper within the mansion, and calls out, "Who's in the back stairwell?" He receives no reply from the "back stairwell," nor has he seen any such stairwell, if there is one. Alarion and Brae are about halfway down the front stairs, and can see Raul below them in the front hall. They have not noticed any stairs other than the ones where they now stand.

Alarion of Tovarre

Alarion calls out to Raul as he runs: "We chase a vile poisoner.. Have them close the gates, lest he be using sorcery to remain unseen!"

Seizing on Alarion's idea, Brae calls upon Meda, and the cleric winks out of existence, only to reappear at the mechanism used to close the gates. He immediately sets to work closing the gate by the fastest available method.

As Braevil Talisker sets about getting the front gates closed, a guard says, "Aye, that should do, provided 'e doesn't leave by another gate. In particklars, I's thinking of the Stable Gate around back, and then yer've gotcher Garden Gate by the fish pond and the Arbor Gate that leads out to the orchards." Brae begins to get the sense that Red Rock is much more of a villa than a military installation.

Knocking on Sir Upjohn's gate

Zane leaves" Iron in his shorts' " office with a grin on his face - part from his opinion of the old dwarf that he is getting away from, part from the fact he is now a free man cleared for duty. Following a smuggling ring was not easy - it was dirty work: slithering along the ground to hear in on slaver's plans, stepping on cars littered cave floors a silent as a drifting shadow, always on alert to getting caught - ready to act the part of a slaver wanna be - dirty to the soul as well as dirty to the body.

That is done, mission successful. He was able to see the slaves to freedom which brought a mix of feelings: the joy of people's faces to have their cages opened and a hand to draw them out can be darkened by the filth and malnourishment of the people formerly oppressed. He was never sure of his allies on that work, never knew who would sell him out, or worse: stab him in his back and leave him to die and rot in some sewer to be eaten by rats or who knows what may lurk in those dark corners.

His thoughts clear at the first sight of people on the streets, but his movements were swift and purposeful. He needed to get ot this estate in good haste, bad enough he was simply sent without so much as a brief on what they are working on.It takes a bit of time navagating the twisted streets, the pop up market places and dodging the horses, but arrive he does.

He arrives at the gate of the manor estates . . . . .

[sblock=to the dm's]are the gates open?[/sblock]

A guard answers, "Yessss??"

Elsewhere, Alarion notes that the guard at the gate seems to have received a hail from without the compound.

The guard immediately allows Zane Harper to enter, and he signals to Alarion who is standing nearby, "Uh, excuse me, Constable, Sir, but this fellow says he is one of you. Constables, that is."
