OOC, Cold Damage: None of the constables 'shrugs off' the cold, but those who succeed at their saves do suffer less from it.

IC: The creature that you see in the back of the alley looks like a corpse frosted with ice crystals. The thing seemed content to remain inthe back of the alley, but your insistent advance into the alley has forced a confrontation with the undead being. It rushes toward SoulFetter, who shares the initiative with the creature. If SoulFetter moves further into the alley, then the two of them move headlong into each other. If SoulFetter holds back, then the creature charges to him. Tau also shares this initiative, but he is further back and will not be involved in the collision at all, sorry, better luck next time. Wherever the collision takes place, which will depend upon SoulFetter's action, SoulFetter finds himself on the receiving end of the creature's frigid slam attack. The slam hits SoulFetter, who suffers 10 hp damage from the slam, and 5 hp additional cold damage. When it damages SoulFetter, the creature grins eerily and seems to straighten a bit and almost stand taller as it feeds off his heat.

And the creature's aura of cold continues to damage all the constables. All the rest of the constables besides SoulFetter please make a DC 16 Fort save against the creature's aura. Those who successfully save still take 6 hp cold damage from the aura. Those who fail the save take 9 hp cold damage. Got ahead of myself with this. This is still Round 1, so 1 hp damage if save is successful, and 7 hp damage if it is not.

SoulFetter's next post will set the final position for the melee, so a final map cannot be provided until then. SoulFetter and the other constables are now up.

Tau also shares this initiative, but he is further back and will not be involved in the collision at all, sorry, better luck next time.
OOC: Next time? Nope, I have better luck this time!

IC: Upon seeing the creature Tau immediately casts a spell. A pool of light forms around him, further illuminating the area. The light is then drawn into himself and two shining bolts shoot from his hands.

OOC: Post 753 has now been edited to contain the start of the melee you knew was coming but were unwilling to avoid.

OOC: BTW, only Tau's first ranged touch attack (the 14) is successful.

With a mighty roar, SoulFetter's rage comes on him full force. He takes a couple of steps forward, then clears the space between himself and the icy dead people in a mighty leap! His huge axe comes over in an overhand chop, making full use of his 750 pounds as he comes down.

Updated Map, through Init. Count 21, Tau, SoulFetter, and Opponent have acted in round 1. SoulFetter's attack, while impressively showy, misses. Tau's first attack hits as stated below in post 755. Raul, Alarion, Brae, and Andrew are up.

With a swift prayer to Meda, Braevil calls upon his goddess' power, firing a brilliant beam of light from his hand toward the creature. Unfortunately, Brae slips on a particularly slick spot of ice in the alley, and the beam goes flashing over the target's head and off into the night.
