Tunnel to the Patriarch's Abode

The Constables are shown into the kitchen, where tomorrow's bread is being baked, and it smells like a particularly sweet batch, too. There is a narrow, winding staircase leading down to where the fires are kept blazing constantly to keep the ovens hot. To one side is the wood bin that can be filled from the alleyway above. To the other is an old and dusty-looking door that, upon closer inspection shows disturbances in its coating of dust, revealing recent usage. The constables check their gear, obtain adequate lighting, and proceed into the tunnel. Immediately, there is a short flight of steps that descends some 8 feet further. The passageway then becomes straight, level, and dry -- almost cozy. There are sconces along the walls every 35 feet or so for torches, and there are torches present, but none are now lit.
