Proposal: Make 6 months of time XP = 1 level.

I'm not sure if it's intentional or a product of rounding then doubling, but for the majority of levels, 6 months of time xp does NOT equal a level.

I noticed when I was planning on using some DM Credits to level my 3rd PC beyond level 1 right out of the gate, only to find that 6 months of time xp wasn't enough - I would need to spend another credit at level 1's reduced rate to get the last 4 xp I would need to reach level 2.

    Current Math
    Level 1 to 2: 1000xp
    6 months of level 1 time xp: 166 x 6=996xp

    Level 2 to 3: 1250xp
    6 months of level 2 time xp: 208 x 6 = 1248xp

    Level 3 to 4: 1500xp
    6 months of level 3 time xp: 250 x 6 = 1500xp

    Level 4 to 5: 1750xp
    6 months of level 4 time xp: 290 x 6 = 1740xp

    Level 5 to 6: 2000xp
    6 months of level 5 time xp: 332 x 6 = 1992xp

    Level 6 to 7: 2500xp
    6 months of level 6 time xp: 416 x 6 = 2496xp

    Level 7 to 8: 3000xp
    6 months of level 7 time xp: 500 x 6 = 3000xp

    Level 8 to level 9: 3500xp
    6 months of level 8 time xp: 582 x 6 = 3492xp

    Level 9 to level 10: 4000xp
    6 months of level 9 time xp: 666 x 6 = 3996xp

    Level 10 to level 11: 5500 xp
    6 months of level 10 time xp: 916 x 6 = 5496xp

    Proposed revision

    • 1st level characters gain 166 xp change to 167 xp
    • 2nd level characters gain 208 xp change to 209 xp
    • 3rd level characters gain 250 xp
    • 4th level characters gain 290 xp change to 292 xp
    • 5th level characters gain 332 xp change to 334 xp
    • 6th level characters gain 416 xp change to 417 xp
    • 7th level characters gain 500 xp
    • 8th level characters gain 582 xp change to 584 xp
    • 9th level characters gain 666 xp change to 667 xp
    • 10th level characters gain 916 xp change to 917 xp

It's only a minor increase, but it actually makes time xp equal its full value. I'll have enough DM credits to get my 3rd PC to the level I want regardless, but the perfectionist in me is bothered by the discrepancy.

I'd assume there's similar disparities in the treasure awards, but I don't have a DMG on me ATM so I can't calculate those.

    What say the judges?

I give all my support for this proposal. There's not much in PbP gaming that's more frustrating than being just a few xp from the next level. It seems that most DMs here give rewards out in large chunks, so those 4 xp could potentially take months to get.
Edit: As a player, that is. As a DM it means exactly another month.

So does that mean this passed?

Hey, as a side note, I noticed the charter still says "12 months of adventuring equals one level", even though the numbers make it 6 months to a level now.

Yeah, Ren must've missed that when he updated the charter. I'm on my iPhone now, but if it isn't fixed by the time I get home tonight, I'll fix it.
