The Immortal's Handbook: Gods & Monsters (unfinished)

thank you krust for the links.

You're welcome.

Incidently, not sure how much of an interest you have of French Graphic Novels...you ever encounter the Requiem: Vampire Knight books by Pat Mills and Olivier Ledroit? I happened to chance over them at the comic store recently and scooped a few up - not for children I hasten to add (not sure as to your age).

Your work about immortals and epic rules are the best.

I appreciate the kind words.

it's my base for my epic (divine) campaign.

Always glad to see someone benefitting from my work. :)

i ll publish some monsters and templates (3.5 version) one day.

Best wishes with that endeavour.

(now, i try to find good ideas, in reading frank herbert "dune" and all books of brian herbert.)

As regards Dune itself I had planned for a giant wormlike monster of that scale for the initial draft of the Vampire Bestiary, but that monster has been moved to another book.

Reading sci fi is good for heroic fantasy rpg . i seek to create a good kwisatz haderach's template for humanoid races....[/QUOTE]

The Paragon template, or modified version might work well enough.

I have all requiem vampire knight! i like the Ledroit's works ! Black moon chronicles are good too.

About kwisatz, parangon template are good idea with 20 or 40 level (monk/psion?) plus sensorial abilities ( 7th 8th 9th or 10th sense? ) , precognition and post cognition and inner eyes , slipstream abilities.

just a question : do you think the divine abilities are mundane abilities for Athasian Advanced Beings or esoteric?

I have been very impressed with Requiem although it is certainly no kids book.

Black moon chronicles are good too.

I was wondering if there is an english version of that book - if so I might check it out, Ledroit's art is amazing.

I probably wouldn't go higher that 30-40th-level. But one rule (of thumb) I always remember from the 1st Edition Deities & Demigods is to start divinity about double the level of the world's best heroes.

So if you were running a low-level game where Level 10 characters are the most powerful in the land, you probably want to set divine beings starting at about Level 20, and so on.

just a question : do you think the divine abilities are mundane abilities for Athasian Advanced Beings or esoteric?

Probably depends on how powerful you want to make them.

If they still live on the mortal plane I'd probably suggest making them esoteric.

Hey UK! Its good to see a bit of news on the HELIOEDES template, I've been thirsting for that template for literal YEARS!

Last fourth of July, I was looking at the fireworks with my girlfriend and said "Hey, those sorta look like Helioedes... " and explained to her what Moonstruck, Starstruck, and Sunstruck caused, and that becoming Sunstruck converted the tentacle monster into a sun beast. She said "No become a sun, Mr Tentacle Beast, then you'll be too hot to hold!"

Hey Deinos mate! :)

Is "Mr Tentacle Beast" your girlfriend's pet name for you? :p

I think it's common for women to have odd nicknames for their boyfriends, often based on humor. Mine for example comes up with new nicknames all the time that make light of our age difference. I'm 32, she's 20.

*wonders if this qualifies her as a "trophy girlfriend"*

She also makes light of the fact that I look really young for my age. I could easily pass for 22-23. I've been dating her for a little over a year now.

OO Time to go, she needs me to pick her up from college. She's studying anthropology. *loves intellectual women*

Hee hee, nah. We usually call tentacle beasts, teaderbeasts, on account of one of my group's absolute favorite NPCs of mine being Teadermin, a friendly vohzd from Vampire the Masquerade (vohzds are like... pseudonatural flesh golems). So we tend to think of them as being friendly critters that just want waffles, instead of ZOMG! ELDRITCH HORRORS FROM BEYOND THE UTMOST VOID, and Helioedes, who are the ultimate of such creatures, are my personal holy grail.

what happened with umbrals?

They were never detailed. Although as I recall I have pretty detailed notes on them. I had them as well plotted out as the Angels.

what are?

They are pieces of nothingness created by the 'vacuum' of the true death of an immortal.

So killing a deity (permanently) creates a hole in space-time and allows an umbral to enter the universe.

Imagine when a deity is killed the 'police' put a tape line around where the body is. Now imagine that tape line is a potential gateway to nothingness (Dimension Zero) and think of it as an inky black pool, from which an umbral can force its way into our universe. The umbral is itself 'nothingness'. But it is coated in the stuff that comprises the border between nothing and something.

and what are their powers?

Entropic based. Things like negation and so forth.

But they were all unique. One is like a flock of undead ravens, another looks like a colossal tortoise whose shell is akin to a volcano but shooting black fire.

Design-wise I thought they were probably among my best monsters...or at least as good as you could have for things that are essentially just dark shadows of gods.

Since then of course, I have vastly improved them and added a specific race to the mix, with a very cool and appropos name (which I won't spoil yet). The race would be sort of like Mind Flayers are to Pseudonaturals.

Hello, i have seen (in ascension book page 113 "divine feat package divine monk III) the feat "improved quivering palm" : "quivering palm affect those immune to critical hits" . Where can i find this feat? what's prerequisites and exact benefits? this feat affect creatures like undeads or constructs with no constitution score? have they a circonstance bonus for theire fotitude saves?

my quasideity monk is spécialised (perfect quivering palm) and i encount many many creature with critical immunity (feats heavy armor fortification, undead elementals, oozes, constructs , heavy fortification armor enhancement) and my technique is never used.

thank you for an answer.
