D20 Modern: What's your world?

Having agreed to run a game and the players requested a non fantasy, we are going with d20 modern. I will be adding a little magic and psionics into the normal world, but wanted to hear some other ideas on what others are doing.

I'm planning on adding role playing requirements or something like that to all magic and psionic advanced classes to make them a little more difficult to achieve. This will show why these are rare. In the world over the past 100 years both of these areas will have been increasing in activity, but still rare. There are stories and live TV footage of these types of powers. Government is trying to crack down on these types of people, and try to control it or regulate it. However, even though this type of thing makes the news almost daily, it's very rare and they stay secretive.

You could do the 1970's but with the CIA and the KGB "psychic experiments" were all genuine...

Yeah...you could definatly do something like the movie "Cast a Deadly Spell"..... It could be very fun! Having the magic using PC's being somehwat hunted like a modern Witch Hunt..

That type of historic stuff will be there, but classiffies and there will be many rumors running rambit about it. The first proven magical person was cronicled in one of the battles in the Civil War. THe first psionic was proven sometime during the Industrial Revolution. While this stuff has been around, it really has not had a great effect on History because of the rareity.
