Moving down the passage you soon arrive at a junction. The entrance to the tunnel is now only a tiny point of lightness behind you. The space opens up around a large round hole in the floor. A shaft descends perhaps twenty feet to a similar room with another hole offset from this one. More old rusting and rotting equipment can be seen down there. Nothing appears to be of any value. A once stout ladder giving way to rot leans against the side of the shaft sticking up about waist high from the hole. It has clearly seen better days. The air around the hole is slightly cooler and the walls here are damp with small rivulets of water running down and dripping occasionally into the hole. A few small swallow puddles make the floor slippery in places.
Two passages exit this space perpendicular to the way you enter. One leads roughly west the other roughly east while you had been moving north. Both continue beyond the edge of your vision looking very similar.
Beside each passage a rune like symbol has been carved. It seems likely the symbols do not date from the time of the mine as they are clear while older tool marks all about are fading with long years in the damp. The western passage is marked by a symbol looking roughly like an 'R' with a foreshortened leg. The Eastern passage is marked by a 'T' shape with the bar tilting from high on the left to low on the right and slightly bowed.
OOC: Roll for separately each if you are curious as to the symbols meaning. [sblock=Raidho DC14 Arcana or DC16 History, Dungeoneering or DC18 Religion check]This is an old runic symbol sometimes still used by rural folk that translates roughly as wagon or chariot and is used to denote a journey, vacation, relocation, evolution, change of place or setting.[/sblock]
[sblock=Nauthiz DC14 Arcana or DC16 History, Dungeoneering or DC18 Religion check]This is an old runic symbol sometimes still used by rural folk that translates roughly as need and is used to denote delays or restriction.[/sblock]
[sblock=The old man and Manous (assuming he can tear his eyes from Tabitha's Derrière)]A part of the North wall beyond the hole looks different somehow and you suspect their is a hidden opening here.[/sblock]
