Sad news indeed. I got to see her at a Doctor Who convention in Chicago in 1983 - she even signed a Sarah Jane Smith photo for me from the back cover of a Doctor Who magazine.

She was second in the Dr. Who universe to only Tom Baker himself as far as I was concerned. I was holding out hope for more Sarah Jane Adventures and didn't even know she was sick. Very sad news.

I just saw this and holy crap! That was a harsh one to hear about, to say the least. Maybe the second harshest to me only behind Charles Schulz (Peanuts).
