Looking over the active characters, it seems like a leader is the most immediate need- it looks like Manous has the only healing ability. I'm considering some hybrid ideas- do people think that a single encounter heal (along with Heal skill trained) would be enough, or should I go for the 2+ encounter healing?

Verily, PQ1, thou shouldst play the character which hast the powers of thine own desires. Go not to other players for advice about thine own character, for they will lead you far astray, and leave thine head thrust far upward in thine arse.

Manous is the only healer at present, eh? Ain't THAT a bi**H! His idea of healing is to just pour some wine on it (hey, he is in France after all) and say, "You shoulda ducked a little more!"

Interestingly, that is the same way I treat all of my hurts in real life! (Well, and consuming said wine.)

Making slow progress- every time I think I will have time to work on things, another project crops up, and I'm headed into a three-day weekend of 12-14 hour workdays. Don't hold up the combat on my account.

Down to (roughly) 4 concepts. Enchanter/illusionist mage (shaman MC); Crossbow bard; Bravura melee/charge warlord; Ardent/Bard melee type.

We're moving along slowly anyway, so no worries.

Final 4 candidates

I've been progressing slowly, and batting stuff around long enough, so I have forced myself to put up my top 4 choices. Any opinions would be helpful.

In no particular order:
1. Ekaterina Kossevitch: Vryloka Warlord (bravura); exiled noble from (not-Romania), forced to leave home after a struggle between two noble families turned into civil war. Close-up melee leader (off-striker with charging), little control or ranged ability except Direct the strike to provide other people with RBAs.

2. Rhiannon nic Aiffe: Eladrin Bard (cunning); an emissary from the fey courts of Avalon- she had visited many years ago when the Hounds were better-regarded, and now that she has returned to Franzia she has restored her old ties to the group despite their decreased prestige. Ranged leader and strong skill base- weak in melee, and perhaps a bit too close to Mowgli's character if he comes back...

3. Genevieve de Chantellessie: Human Wizard (mage- enchanter/illusionist), MC Shaman; born into a noble family but lost her parents and their estate during a border skirmish with (not-Germany), raised in a convent of Ioun. Did not take vows, and left the order to seek further arcane training- which brought her to the capitol, where the best teachers are. When she was in need of money to further her studies, an old friend of her family provided a recommendation for her to join the Hounds, since the group had few dedicated arcane specialists. Weak in melee, and the least capable healer of the top 4 (only one encounter heal, and trained Heal skill). Strong control, both single and multitarget.

4. Sebastien deLaureville: Human hybrid Artificer/Wizard, MC Bard; third son of a minor noble family, he became a scholar and explorer of note. Despite his age (well past fifty), he is active and vigorous, and has quite a way with the ladies. Recently made an enemy of someone in the Archmandress' circle, and has joined the Hounds for a bit of protection. Kind of a compromise candidate- fairly weak healing (encounter +daily), not totally helpless in melee, reasonable ranged control

Those are four very promising candidates, PQ1. But shouldn't one of them be a Manchurian? :D Seriously, it's difficult for me to choose a favorite. 3 & 4 are both excellent choices, but 1 & 2 have the advantage of a stated affinity for missile attacks, which is something that my Paladin, Manous, just isn't really much capable of doing. Plus 2 and 4 contribute additional healing to our mix, which is something that front-line warriors always appreciate. I've always wanted to see a Warlord in action -- plus I doubt whether it is possible to have too many Leaders in a party, but the Artificer(Wizard) / Bard is awfully hard to beat as well.
