A well rounded ranger build?

We have just started "Masks of the living God" (at third level), and an old friend wants to join the game, playing a ranger.
I´ve never played one, and I need help with a build. He´s a meele kind of type, but I don´t mind an archery focus build.

Stats is:9, 11, 10, 11, 17, 18. Probably a human, but I´m not sure.

Read Treantmonk's Guide to Rangers on d20pfsrd and check out the Split-Hitter. It's a versatile ranger build that mixes melee with archery.

What Treantmonk does not do take into account is the archetypes. Check them out at the bottom of the ranger page on pfsrd.com

With those stats you probably won't get much/any spellcasting due to low wis. So you might consider multiclassing, or if you want to stay Ranger go with the Skirmisher archetype which switches out spellcasting for hunter's tricks.

Yeah, it would be nice if Treantmonk would update his Guides for all the new Pathfinder character options from the suppliments they have put out.
