British scientists have secretly created more than 155 human-animal hybrids, a startling new report says.
The scientists, searching for cures for several diseases, produced the embryos over the last three years, according to The Daily Mail.
The paper said the embryos, which contain human and nonhuman genetic material, have been produced since the 2008 passage of a law that allows scientists to:
* Fertilize animal eggs with human sperm.
* Implant a human nucleus into an animal cell to create a "cybrid."
*Mix human cells with animal embroys to produce "chimeras."
The research has been halted, at least for now, by a shortage of funds, the paper said.
Chimeras, baby. They're real!! And cybrids (aka anthropomorphics)!
