The website for For Gold & Glory has been down for more than a week. Does anyone know what's up?

Wait, no mention of Hackmaster or Castles & Crusades in the 3e section?

Those weren't published after the run of the 3e rules were terminated. They coexisted alongside. Seems awkward to call something a retro clone of something it is contemporary with.

Lately, I've also been enjoying the new Goodman Games Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG (using the published beta rules). To me it feels like AD&D with some minor/sensible rules updates and tweaks to make magic a bit darker and more mysterious.

HackMaster is, essentially, a combination of 1e and 2e, with some modifications and additions. It has nothing in common with 3e.

Has anyone looked for AD&D 1E rule books online lately? I used to find PHBs or DMGs on Ebay for less that $20 (US), but for some reason the prices are nearly twice that now. Anyone know why that might be?

On the flip side though it's great for retro-clone games!

I picked up a 1E DMG on eBay for 6 last week.

Yeah, I thought that may be the case. Just a matter of timing and persistence I suppose eh?

Still, hard to argue free v. $ though.

I would like to nominate ACKS as a B/X clone + extra domain rules and a lightweight skill system.
