[Adventure]: The Bane of the Black Dragon (DM: Dimsdale, Judge ??)

OOC: Falling damage is 1d10/10 feet (p. 44 of the DMG). :)

My avenger has a level 3 encounter that can teleport an enemy 20 feet in the air. They get a save since it is dangerous forced movement, but that does an extra 2d10 if it succeeds.

OOC: Hey I like that idea! Sharpe can fly the dragon up to immense heights and dive bomb the black dragon, killing all three instantly! :lol:

OOC: Could you do it with Orcus or something while we watch? I could do with 3 or 4 more levels and a ton of gold.

Let's try this.

I don't think the intent of the power "Swift Flight" was to do what you are wanting to do. I'll let you do this for this encounter only

1. You can make the fall for 4d10 on dragon (if you hit it: see below) and 4d10 on your self.

2. Since the dragon is moving around and it is dark and that you have to crash through the canopy of the trees, which is 30 feet from the 40 ft you start at, there should be a chance that you miss the dragon entirely. Let's say that you have 40% chance of missing. 1-8 you miss entirely and 9-20 you hit.

3. This is a one-shot action, meaning that you have to burn your AP to do it and you will not get the chance to do it the rest of the adventure.

If you agree to the terms, go for it.

I apologize t oeveryone for the hold up. With 40% chance to do damage to myself and not the dragon, I will pass. It would be a sight though, wouldn't it be? It's not dark, there is sunrod burning 100 feet in all directions :)

Drew approaches the dragon, going around the melee, trying to repeat the move he used on the shambler, but it's much harder to do "bite of the dragon" on a real dragon.

[sblock=Actions]
Move: K11
Minor: (move from Fallen Needle): J10
Standard: Fallen Needle vs Ref (Dragon); damage (1d20+7+2=14, 1d10+6=9) - not user if this is a hit so I didn't change anything
[sblock=if that hit]
- dragon is at -2 to hit Drew
- dragon takes additional 6 damage and is slid one square to the left, fully into the zone
- Drew gets +1 shield bonus to AC & Ref
- Drew regains 5 hp

Oh, hey, it's you guys. ;)

Dims' interpretation is reasonable. I might have done it differently (e.g. treat it as a charge attack vs. AC with 4d10 damage on hit, but 4d20 damage to the monk hit or miss, reducible to half with acrobatics). But this is clearly one of those situations where DMs have to make up rules on the fly, so it's Dimsdale's call.

yes, it is true that the light source covers 100 feet in all directions. But 30 feet is the canopy of the trees. The flight of Drew would take him above the trees into the sky where it is completely dark. He would not be able to see the dragon clearly. When he falls to the ground there is a big chance that he'd hit a branch when falling through the canopy. That's why I said the 40%

You can either choose my rules for a future attempt at the move, or go with what Covaithe said. Your choice.

END OF ROUND 3

The bard provides his comrades with protection as the heroes hit with multiple attacks capped off by Zharne's timber wolf hitting the dragon so hard that it knocks the beast off his feat. The dragon shakes off the attack and stands. You choose to fight! Himmmmm...You are quite brave....but very foolish. Behold the power of Braakarat the mighty! With that, the dragon darts forward and bites down hard on the construct. Acids sizzles the in the puncture wounds left by the dragon. He then turns and sprays another volley of acid that connects with four of the heroes.
