Prime stands with the group, waiting for the monster's actions.

[sblock=Prime] Prime Warforged Fighter 5
[sblock=Things to remember]
  • Prime has damage reduction 1 against all damage
  • When an enemy marked by Prime makes an attack that doesn’t include him, he can make an Immediate Interrupt to make a Melee Basic Attack against him. If the attack connects, he can push the target up to 3 squares; since interrupts happen before the action that provoked them, pushing an enemy that attacks an ally beyond reach can potentially negate the attack altogether. Notice also that this attack isn’t an opportunity attack
  • Prime has a +2 bonus to hit with Opportunity attacks and if they hit they stop enemies if a move provoked the attack. They can resume moving using other actions.
Trigguers:
Shield Edge Block when the -4 to the enemy’s roll can negate the attack
Guardian’s Counter when an ally within 2 squares is attacked, especially if the swap would negate the attack (it hit the ally’s defense, but is not high enough to hit Prime’s)
[/sblock]

OOC: except cover means null/squat against area attacks :)

Zharne readies his staff against the intruder while trying to recollect what he knows about shambling mounds then levels his staff against the creature then releases the power he had focused in there creating a hailstorm of splinters at the creature but he seem to have aimed a bit too high and misses

[sblock=Action Details]

Move Action:ready staff
Minor Action:monster knowledge check: nature 26
Standard Action:thorn spray area between k3:k8 and p3: p8(hits fort 14 ie a miss)

And the battle begins...

[sblock=Zharne]
You remember that this creature is healed by lightning and has the power to ensnare its victims, drawing healing from at the victim's expense.
[/sblock]

The smaller trees and shrubs give way to a massive collection of living roots, shurbs, vegetation, plants...and teeth. It is clear that the creature is in feeding mode as its roots move towards the heroes, trying to latch on to them. The creature takes particular interest in Zharne as two of its roots lash out at him, barely missing both times.

Now that the whole party is awake, the automaton circles the plant beast, nearly stepping on sharpe and his dragon, looking for a good position to attack the mound. Finally he finds it when the mound launches himself towards Zharne; distracted, it can't avoid Prime's hammer, which sinks with a wet *thud* into the mass of vines. Nobody knows if it's suffered significant damage, but the beast turns enraged towards the construct only to see barely nothing behind the large shield raised to its face.

[sblock=actions]
Move=Move through O9, P8, P7, P6, O5.
Standard=Shield Feint against the shambling mound, with flanking bonus from Zharne; hits AC 22 (barely hitting precisely thanks to the flanking) dealing 8 damage and Marking the mound. Prime has now a +3 power bonus to the next attack roll he makes against the shambling mound before the end of his next turn, and a +1 to AC and Reflex (noted in the ministats)

Have in mind the trigger conditions sblocked in the ministats, particulary Shield Edge Block and Guardian counter and the fighter mark punishment mechanics.[/sblock]

Gellan follows Prime around the monster, slashing at its root structures as he passes to send it stumbling towards the fire. "Let us see how you like that, eh?"

[sblock=Actions]Move: Gellan walks to O-7, circling to avoid OAs.
Standard: Gellan attacks the mound with Pressing Strike, shifting to N-5 before the attack. Hits AC 29 for 11 damage, and the mound is pushed 1 square south so it occupies the fire's square. It probably gets a save to avoid that.[/sblock]

The leaves on tree in the far end of the camp site bristles ... "Eshérmàfiom!" comes the booming voice of Vermitrax, as the leaves clear in a sudden burst of energy that comes from the tree. Five small orbs of scintillating yellow energy come flying and whirl around the vegetation beast, that lashes out at the small orbs, destroying one, moment in which the remaining four come down and explode on it, leaving burned vine marks.
As the others check the place where the energy orbs came from, they see Vermitrax, standing next to the tree, staff in hand. His robes move unnaturally, and pale yellow arcane energy whirl around his left hand.

"You are wrong again Gellan. This is an agent of the forest, a Shambling Mound. Such creatures are stalwart defenders of the wild." explains Vermitrax, apparently not concerned about sounding like a d*ck.

Vermitrax uses Magic missile on the SM, hitting for 8 force damage. Then climbs down the tree.

OOC: Voda Vosa did you update the things HP from MM?

OOC: I just did, now numbers match.

MetaVoid, do you think you could slide the thing back north if you hit with flurry of blows? I think I'll try to not post until the dust is settled from things dying and being pushed around - it's difficult to do any defending when you're not adjacent.
