Another Day, Another Dragon
Morning arrived once again in the Eladrin City of Siltretharquayas [Sil-treth-are-quay-as], located in a tamer 'neighborhood' of the FeyWild. As usual, the morning proceeded to full-on daytime with the preternatural swiftness seen at times in the FeyWild. Time here is a highly mutable creature, sometimes taking on the subjective aspects felt by those moving along her ordered boulevards. Siltretharquayas is best approximated in the Common Tongue as "City of the Oaken Boughs," although that is by no means a perfect translation of the shades of meaning conveyed by the word "Siltretharquayas" in the Quenya tongue, also known as Eladrin or High Elvish.
Our Heroes, all the children of Ethanderayal Phaedran, Baron of Laurelwood: Harnithael al'Phaedran, his sister Sulannus, brothers Galinndan and Quarion, and his precocious "baby" brother Rinivan, who is known for his arcanically enhanced talents as a showstopping swordsman of great fecundity, have gathered to break their fast at The Laughing Gull, their favorite wine fountain in Siltretharquayas, and they are joined by their dear friend and sponsor, Princess Yrellen, sister to Prince Nyrel, Heir-Apparent to the Ruby Throne, who lives in nearby Astrazalian, "City of Starlight," and who has just arrived to welcome home her good friends Our Heroes from their recent indecisive encounter with their nemesis the Black Dragonmage Archangault the Elusive. [Archangault is pronounced "Are-shan-go," it's a French thing]
Our Heroes became aware of Archangault the Elusive while investigating the phenomenon known hereabouts as the Dweomerfall, which is a somewhat alarming inability to properly manipulate arcane energies that is so far of temporary duration but sudden, quite disconcerting onset. Once they learned of Archangault the Elusive's existence, it wasn't long before they uncovered evidence that the Dragonmage was blaming the Dweomerfall on the meddling of human and Eladrin magi, and seeking to eliminate all such magi he could locate. The Heroes quite naturally took this somewhat personally.....
[Note: It is also a somewhat disconcerting feature of The Laughing Gull that the place simultaneously exists in both Siltretharquayas and Astrazalian.]
