Well, I just looked it up in my PHB and checked the errata, and it's still ambiguous to me. It just says you get a +1 bonus to a single d20 roll, nothing about whether you can roll first and add the +1.

So I'm going to keep playing where I can add the bonus after, since that's more useful to me, unless the DM objects.

The Temple Battle: Round 3

Eloan stands back in fear and when he sees the Ghoul attention is toward Kamotz, Eloan turns around and see the Necromancer standing in front of him, looking at Eloan with disgust. "Humph..." Eloan takes control of his nerves and tells to the Necromacer. "Banish your foul creature and no more harm will come to you."

"No! Go away!" Kruor cried. He instinctively swipes at the ghoul with his syringe-fingers, taking a large chunk of it's flesh away. Blood starts sputtering out of it's now exposed lungs, showering Kruor in a mist of red. As Kruor struggled against himself, one part held himself back while the other attempted to massacre everything in sight. In the end, Kruor did a mighty leap towards the ghoul but missed wildly.

"That's no way to treat your workers!" Rabbit yells at the necromancer, offended by his tirade. He moves a few steps closer to the nearest skeleton and addresses it directly. "You have rights, you know! Just because the dead work cheaper than the living doesn't mean they can be mistreated! Stand up for your rights! Throw off the chains of the necromantic capitalist oppressor! Rise up! Figuratively this time!" The skeleton ignores him and reaches out a bony hand to clutch at his throat; Rabbit obliterates it with a hasty two-handed swing.

He whirls to face the ghoul. "What about you? Are you more willing to..." He is cut off as the ghoul lunges for him, and he sighs and blasts it with eldritch force.

*Hunzu moves once again into a better position. He slams his polearm into the ground. Another eruption of power twists reality sending his enemies slamming into the back wall.*

Nate feels both his and Berry's life drained, but continues his conjuration to bring down the skeletons. One of his stones flies farther, heading at the ghoul Kruor is fighting.

Finally Illarion focuses on the necromancer walking straight and aligning his staff which produces strange multicolored sparks. At one point sparks move to the tip of the staff, suddenly darken and the bolt shoots straight at the death mage. It leaves not a mark on his clothing, but his mind and body are ravaged by chaotic energies contained within. "I hate necromancers!" spits the sorcerer

As the sound of their howl starts to fade, the pair of wolf-like creatures lowered their heads, looking toward the pale woman with killer intent. The sound altered then, and a blast of black light washed over Eloan, the Ghoul and the Necromancer. Eloan was unaffected by the display, but the Necromancer and Ghoul sear under the light of Lauto's voice.

The Dire Wolf, Whiggins, begins stalking forward toward the Necromancer.

I am Death's voice, and Lauto will have you this day. the necromancer feels the threat physically manifest, even as Kamotz sanction fades from the other enemies.


Seriously injured by Illarion's blast, the attacks by the paladin drop the necromancer. The undead, previously moving to exact measures now swarm about like released hounds.

The eastern wight moves forward, a strangled, "Rise..." escapes its rotting throat. The ghoul next to 7 Rabbit rises noislessly to its feet. The wight strides jerkily forward, mostly dragging it's left leg. With its left hand, the wight slowly reaches up and pulls the rotting flesh from it's face. Evil red burning orbs where it's eyes should have been pulse with dark energy. With a horrific scream, vile dark energy blasts out of the wight and assaults the heroes' minds. All but Eloan are pushed back from the wight.

The newly risen ghoul tries to savage the dwarven warlock, but can not land a blow.

The ghoul facing the mechanic, thanks to a quick warning by Eloan, misses yet again.

The last ghoul attempts to surround Eloan, but the warlord is well experienced and avoids the ghouls' attack.

The second wight, energized by the first's deathly visage, leaps forwad, slicing into Kamotz. He can feel his energy draining at the mere touch of his undead enemy.

Remember, I'm a new DM, so I'll have lots of questions like, how do you calculate time xp again? and should I give the players a cost break on the mass resurrection spell since they all died? you know stuff like that

As the Wight show his hideous face, Eloan freeze in fear, unable to move. "Oh gods!" He step up as he feels the ghoul behind him. He barely have time to turn around and raise his shield. "Ah!" Eloan starts to look around but find his allies far behind him.

"Sorry, I don't stay here." Eloan disappear to reappear next to Kamotz. "Stay near me!" He swings at the ghoul who easily block the blow, but it creates an opening and this time, Kamotz takes it without needing Eloan signal. "You learn fast, Kamotz."

*Hunzu moves back as the wight moves up to reveal his tainted visage. Though the shardsmind's mind is well shielded from such things. He strides forwards once again. He mind entering that of Eloan's. His voice empty and hollow sounding much like that of a faint echo.*

"I would duck if I were you."

*The voice within Eloan's mind stated. Hunzu lifted his polearm in both hands and began to spin it rapidly out in front of himself. Chilled winds began to pure out from the epicenter of his spinning polearm. The winds batter and clash against all those within the area slowing down there movement entirely.*

This time, Kruor lost most of the control over his body. He lunges out like a snake, his right arm's huge syringe catching the Ghoul straight in the abdomen. A light whirring could be heard as the pump on Kruor's back starts up, so light that if you didn't see the syringe filling up with blood, you probably wouldn't notice it.

Kruor hisses at the Ghoul, as he rips out the syringe from it, thick, black blood starts to trickle from the opening. He takes a step back, wanting to savor the moment.

The lines that were drawn all over his body starts to glow red and Kruor feels the invigoration of the somewhat low quality ghoul blood being digested into the energies that animates him. "SANGUINE CORE AT 26% EFFECTIVENESS. PLEASE SYNCHRONIZE SANGUINE CORE DURING MAINTENANCE, BLOOD RETRIEVAL UNIT {KRUOR}."

The hunt has just begun...

Correction:

-On another note, why is FourMonos calling Kruor a mechanic? Mechanics are people who fix or work with machines... (suggestions include: mechanism, machination, robot, android, BLOOD RETRIEVAL UNIT {KRUOR})

Thanks to Eloan for the +2 to defenses. I kinda wish I'd get bloodied though. More to roleplay.
